Hi! I'm new here, so I apologize if this is a subject that has already been addressed, but I am having a little bit of a problem. We just started cloth diapering about 1.5 months ago, and are using Bum Genius 3.0. Every time my son has a bowel movement, he gets red and sensitive around is anus. I wouldn't really call it a rash, but it is really red. I read that I shouldn't use diaper creams with cloth diapers, so I end up using a disposable diaper about once every couple days so that I can load him up on diaper cream. It clears up immediately. Is there any cream I can use? I hate having to use the disposables, but do not want to compromise the cloth. I hope that made sense!

Is it possible he's having a reaction to either the suedecloth or detergent you are using? You could put a liner in there, cheap fleece or cotton, and then use diaper rash creme. Are you changing him right after the BM? If I don't my daughter does get irritated at times.

Dd gets really red when we don't change her right away. When that happens, we just let her air out on a waterproof pad. It clears up right away.

Might it be something in his diet? Redness/irritation around the anus can be a sign of a food sensitivity.
