My neice is in both cloth diapers (during the day) and paper diapers at night. We are coverless at this point. We change neice after every feeding (hourly) and yet she continues to get a rash with the cloth diapers. We use the same detergent on the diapers as her clothes.

Would it help to put a liner down so that the wet is not right next to her skin or what would help? I am clueless on this one.

A fleece liner might help. All you can really do is try and go through the process of elimination.

Could be yeast on the CDs. Get some Grapefruit Seed extract from your local health food store (or online) and add 15-20 drops to the final rinse cycle. Then dry the CDs on HIGH heat. Do not use cloth until the rash is gone completely.

If that doesn't do it, I'd bet it's a fabric sensitivity (what type of fabric is the lining on the CD?) and would look into some liners that are a different material.

Could still be deterg residue. Clothing can have residue but it doesn't always irritate the skin because it doesn't get wet. Wet diapers can "activate" the deterg and if there is deterg remaining in the diaper fibers it can cause a rash.

we figured it out.

She wears white cloud brand diaper at night. Around 5 or 6 in the morning her first cloth diaper goes on. Well mommy was still sleepy and not notticing that the rash was much worse when the white cloud was taken off. So come time for the next diaper when eyes are a little more awake we just assumed bc she was in the cloth, that the cloth diaper was to blame. Now she wears two cloth diapers to bed and gets changed around midnight and presto very little red area.
