We have the Baby Bjorn Potty chair, and the insert bowl is, well, gross. We still live in a home without indoor plumbing. I decided after the return from our vacation a few days ago, I would just transition her to peeing outside like we do, but she is having a difficult time with it. I realized the state of the potty bowl is partly driving this decision.
Anyone know if it's possible to buy JUST the white bowl insert for the chair?
No idea, but meanwhile wash yours well and try putting it in sunlight for a day or so.
In summer, it takes about 4 hours of full sun to bleach tomato stains from plastic, it'll probably be longer in winter.
I'm assuming you've already tried bleach? Since it's not a food surface, that should be fine even if it doesn't totally get the stains and you have to sun it.
I second giving it a good wash. Otherwise, there is an email address on their website. I would try contacting customer service and see if you can just buy the bowl as a replacement.
Thanks for the cleaning suggestions ladies. I wish cleaning was the solution, but this potty bowl is crusted with non-removable, crystallized urine, caused by infrequent emptying. It's kind of bonded with the plastic, and even chiseling or pounding it, it doesn't come off.
We live off grid without a septic system, and we have long been challenged by emptying the bowl regularly. It has just gotten progressively worse over the three years we've had the bowl! Arg. Thanks for finding the email address, I will contact the manufacturer. I suppose I could also try some heavy duty cleaners, but I'd prefer not.
Long shot, but worth trying since you don't want to use the bowl anyway, how about boiling water?
