14 month old part time EC girl is getting very interested in potty contents :-/. We have the bbpchair and bbsmartpotty and they both have a nice, roomy, elongated bowl. She started out by putting her hands on her crotch area, curious about those places that are usually inaccessible under a diaper. I didn't mind that and didn't discourage it. Now that's old news and she scoots back further on the potty, and puts her hands right in the bowl often as she is peeing. I have tried to keep her engaged and her hands busy with toys, books, etc but she just tries to shove these items into the potty too. Luckily pooping is ok since it takes too much concentration to allow for these shenanigans. I've tried holding her hands and doing party cake with her but usually she pulls away and screams if I insist. Last time I resorted to letting her do it and cleaned her hands after. Any tips? Is this a phase she's just going to grow out of? Thanks :-)

It is just that, a phase. Just like exploring the crotch and now that's old news as you say, so will playing with pee...in general phases pass more quickly if we can just surrender to them. Hard at times, but that's kinda what childhood is all about-exploring things and moving on to the next one. Hang in there!

ETA: and be grateful she's not interested in her poo (yet) winky.gif

Hmm, what about giving her a wet sponge to play with or holding a little bowl of water by her hands and see if she plays with that instead? Worth a shot I guess! If it doesn't work and is driving you crazy, maybe you could get a seat to place on top of the toilet so she can go on there. No way she can reach the 'contents' then! Also, you don't have to clean a little potty that way.

Ill try a wet washcloth, that's easy. Thanks for the idea! I tried to put her on the toilet but she doesn't like dangling feet. Even with a stool she can't reach yet but I'll keep it in mind :-)
