Hi all, I'm having my first baby in September and I want to try EC from the start. I've purchased some organic cotton prefold diapers just to use kindof like undies for him and to catch any little messes. It's really cold in winter where I live so he's not gonna be able to be naked ALL the time. Wondering what u were planning or have used?

I use prefolds. You can put leggings on with them or split crotch pants if you are super diligent.

I use prefolds as diapers, they're perfect. She wears them most of the time. When she has diaperless time, I turn her pants inside out so that the seams and tags won't irritate her. Then they're basically just like undies, except with legs.

Prefolds with a snappi

I think people use a prefold with a snappi and no diaper cover(no pul or plastic layer). We got a late start and just use our gdiapers.

I went a different route. We used Charlie Banana training pants. They come in tiny sizes (small is 9-14lbs!) and have a waterproof top layer, and an organic cotton inner layer with a terry soaker pad. They would occasionally leak, but generally if you're ECing, you're only going to have smallish misses. I bring my son to work with me, and couldn't deal with pee all over everything if he did go.

He's now 15 months old, and we've been adding plain old Gerber training pants (non waterproof!) into the mix. He's a pretty big boy (25lbs), so the smallest (that I've seen) pants (2T) fit him, but do slide down occasionally! :P
