I would think the clear would be good with a girl, we don't have one, but I have the distinct advantage of being able to see when ds is peeing. If I'm not paying attention though, I just lift him up to check. Not sure how that's going to go when he can sit alone, but to me it wasn't worth the extra money. If you don't go with clear you'll figure something out!

Mama of two... DS born at 35w5d (11/06) and DD : born full term 38w3d (5/09) on what would have been my dad's 64th birthday. Always missing my dad who died of oral cancer 3/11/09.

We've loved our clear potty for almost 3 years, and it only recently cracked a little in the back...my fault- trying to slide a 35lber while sitting on the potty. We could never tell when he was peeing before we got that potty.

Now, I can't figure out how to "wean" him from the darn thing!

Aspiring midwife-mama to 2 beautiful homebirthed boys ages 3 and 6...

DS didn't use his clear potty until he could sit up (about 5 months old). He used it for it a few months but now at 12 months the sink works better. Before 5 months we used a bowl.

good luck!

Yeah, my daughter is 3.5 and still uses little potties at least 50% of the time. I was trying to get them out of sight, but now with a new baby coming soon I figure I might as well just get some out again and let her go at it!

The clear potty does have the advantage of being clear, obviously. It is twice as much as the BBLP, but honestly still $20 is SO cheap for how much you'll use it. You'll use it SO MUCH you won't believe it. And for so long. Any potty. Most people have more than one. One for the living room, one for the bedroom, one for the car.

I would recommend it- I recently got the BBLP and I can't hear when dd pees. PITA!

I got one - it's made out of a slightly different plastic so I've found I can usually hear her better for some reason (I often use it at night).
