I also forgot to add is there any hospitals that do not allow the practice of midwifery in the US? If so do you have any articles/links?

By midwifery in hospitals do you mean CNMs? I think CNMs are legal to practice in hospitals everywhere.

I am not looking at the legal side. I have been told there are a few hospitals in the US that will not allow it. I am trying to find out if it is true.

Hi! Actually, in Texas there is a big ruckus right now because several hospitals have terminated their CNM programs. It is believed to possibly be related to 'anti-trust' issues. You could probably get more information on this at

It is possible that the TMA are doing this in retaliation to the recent Midwifery Rules Revision Meetings as well...

As for other states, I'm not sure, but I do know that if they can get away with something like this in Texas, then they will probably try it anywhere...

The Lord bless you,
Zoie

In my town the hospital does not allow CNMs to practice there. It is not a state thing...it is hospital by hospital, and many, many hospitals do not allow CNMs.
