My BF used Goldenseal to induce her labor, but I thought I read that it can cause heart irregularities in the fetus. Anyone heard anything about Goldenseal to induce?

Goldenseal contains the uterine-stimulating compound berberine and is considered an abortifacient. I guess I can sorta see why it may be considered for induction...but if it were me, I'd hedge on the side of safety and let my own body do the work in it's own time.

I read about some side effects over a year ago (after her DD was born), but can't find any of the information on the internet now. She just used it again with her DS and went into labor w/in hours, but I have never really heard of anyone else doing it. My MW advised her to just wait but b/c of "extenuating circumstances" she did it anyway. Now I'm very intrigued and wondering why it's not talked about more - good or bad.
