Since it's not listed on the DONA website, I wondered if anyone could tell me how much their workshop ran? Did the price include any books, etc? Was it a postpartum or birth doula training?

Thanks in advance.

The ALACE birth doula workshop I went to was $375, I think. DONA should be comparable.

I believe every DONA doula trainer is an independent, so what they charge for a doula training training can vary area by area. But, most of the ones I am familar with run around ~$350 for the weekend training. You just need to find a local trainer listed on the DONA website and look for their personal website to see the cost details.

Yes I think $350-$400 would be the range. It does not include the books that are required reading. Of course, you'll get a handbook from the instructor, but the rest is separate. My birth and postpartum trainings cost about the same, although I had to travel much further for the postpartum training.

DONA training in NYC / NJ area $500.00
It's usually four full days and you have to buy your own books.

I guess I got a bargain here in Kentucky...our DONA approved training was sponsored by our birth care network and it was only $195 if you were a member of the network, otherwise it was $245. Our trainer was amazing--Robin Weiss (500 plus births since 1989, Lamaze fellow, all around pregnancy expert & author).

We're having another DONA approved training here in Louisville in November, I believe. Our BCN has details on their website www.birthcarenetwork.com.

The DONA workshop I attended was $200.00 and an extra $50.00 to attend the pre-workshop childbirth prep course.

I adore Robin, you really were very lucky to get such a bargain to have Robin train you.

Years ago, she and I met for lunch when she was traveling thru NYC, we had met on the internet on the one birth/doula forum they had back then in the dark ages of the internet.

I am in Oregon and I took the Weekend workshop, it was $325 from an independent trainer. She was amazing, and gave us sooo much info, and a big notebook of stuff for reference. books are not included, you have to get the ones you wnat to use on your own.
They also require you to have a prerequiste done by takingn a CBE class before the workshop, My trainer offers a one day class that replaces that if you want for $100 more. I took the local hospitals class as it was free and I felt it could be benificial to me as a Doula to see what they are teaching the women/couples here. so I just attended the 3 day weekend

Lisa~Was Aspiring Midwife~Now-AAMI Midwifery Student #2020~Mama to Zackery 3/29/96, Drake 9/22/01, and Selina 10/26/03...and here was the link to my new blog

Thanks for the info everyone. I contacted the instructor and it looks like it's right around $400.
