I'm thinking of attending The Farm's Midwifery Assistant workshop. What kind of experiences has anyone had with these workshops? Were you able to get work in a birth environment after the workshop? What was it like? Would you say it's worth the money?

My former doula partner was transformed by the experience and learned so much. She wished it was more like two weeks because there was so much info covered, but she loved every minute of it.

She went to train to be a midwife's assistant, but she felt she needed to be enrolled in midwifery school before she felt ready to assist a midwife/apprentice. I have no idea if that was because she wasn't personally ready, or if that was the feedback she got from area midwives. Either way, she was an even better doula with a better understanding of normal birth.

Sadly, she moved across the country! Hopefully some lucky women will hire her to support them at their births. She's amazing...
