I have a friend who has an assystemic arythmia, if I remember correctly, and is 4 mo.s along with her 1st child. She would really like to give birth naturally. Her dr. is recommending that she be "as drugged up as possible" from the get go to prevent any problems with her heart. Are there any recommendations for reading that I can give her to do her own research on the subject. I'm a little worried that he's setting her up for a bad birthing experience but I don't know all of the particulars involved with her condition. I will try to find out more. Are any of the midwifes familiar with this condition? Does it truly put a mother at great risk?

Thanks
