My husband moved out about almost 2 months ago, which was a mutual decision. We are fairly amicable... at least I don't anticipate major disagreements. I would do this all myself- file it and all that... have it all written up and checked in the cheapest way possible... but there is too much. We own a restaurant together 50/50. I don't have an income to show for the last 8 years, even though I have been working full time for the last 4 years. I don't necessarily want to be a part of the restaurant, but I don't necessarily look forward to finding a good income all over again either. I have a master's degree in Education with a long expired license. The restaurant does ok, it does not make a huge profit at all, but it's an income. We own a house. We have a sizeable loan, which is basically a line of credit that was used to start a second business (which is now closed). That loan is a lien on the house. The loan and the mortgage are about the same amount. I homeschool the kids. I would certainly like to keep doing that. But I don't know how to do that unless my schedule is the same as it is now. I work nights, he works days. I could basically use any advice, or any links, at all. I need to gather info on how to split finances fairly... things I might not think about and regret later.... important things to realize in helping the kids with this (6 and 8)... anything helpful. I haven't done much so far except pack up some stuff and get excited that I have more shelf space. So, I need to get started on the actual divorce. I realize I might just have to bite the financial bullet and hire my own lawyer... but I would prefer not to do that if I can. Thanks in advance!
