DD demands more of my attention and has gotten a bit difficult, but she loves having a sister, and the dynamic of 3 instead of 2 makes it feel more like family.. Not that 2 isn't family but I am used to growing up in a loud household.

I found some random SMC inspiration today in a poem by Laurence Alma-Tadema 1865-1940:

If no one ever marries me

If no one ever marries me-
And I don't see why they should,
For nurse says I'm not pretty,
And I'm seldom very good-

If no one ever marries me
I shan't mind very much;
I shall buy a squirrel in a cage,
And a little rabbit-hutch.

I shall have a cottage near a wood,
And a pony all my own,
And a little lamb quite clean and tame,
That I can take to town.

And when I'm getting really old-
At twenty-eight or -nine--
I shall buy a little orphan- girl
And bring her up as mine.

I second that. Friend had an explosion w fiance, moved out w newborn. She asked him for some money for baby formula, his response: the day you can't afford that kid, I will get full custody. Hes got full custody of his 3 others to prove he can.

Farmermomma - love the poem. Actually remember when I was very little saying I was going to adopt my own baby. Forgot about that

Yeah when I was a kid I thought I'd adopt a 3 year old. There was no man in this picture. So glad I got pregnant and had those early bonding years. I was never into babies till I had my first.
