I am feeling sad and empty. The kids just went with their dad to spend the day with his family for Easter ...I know they are having fun, but I am missing them AND I miss Mike's family, it is weird being home alone on a holiday. I have been invited before to the gatherings, even tho we are divorced, but no mention of it was mode today (and M and I have been getting along great lately)

This will pass. I may go out with a friend today, but I am feeling a pain in my heart. I don't know exactly what that is all about, but I suppose it will get better as the day wears on.

btw, to all who celebrate, Happy Easter.

I'm sorry you're feeling sad. I think it's an unavoidable part of sharing our kids. Definitely go do something just for yourself even if no one goes with you. Go get coffee or go to a movie or get a book you've been wanting and go have lunch at a restaurant....those are my ideas but just do something gifty for yourself.

I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your easter. When all else fails just eat some good chocolate! It has been 6 years since ex and I first seperated and I still get sad when I miss holidays with DS. He had Easter with dad yesterday too and I understand the sort of empty feeling you described. It is hard when you identify mainly as a mother and then you are without your kids on a special day.

Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in your feelings. I wish I could say that they went away completely but all they do is lessen.

Zen doula-mama to my spirited DS1 (2/03), my CHD (TAPVR) warrior DS2 (6/07) & a gentle baby girl (8/09)

Thanks guys. I went to a festival with a friend and it cheered me up a bit except I kept thinking how much DD would have enjoyed it (people dress their dogs up in easter bonnets/dresses/etc )

they are home now, all is well
