Ah, Max, that really sucks!  My clinic had me on birth control and I was probably going to have a retrieval over Thanksgiving, and they just kept me on birth control longer to elongate my cycle. I wonder why they can't do that?!  (Although admittedly, it was weird because I was having my period about 3 days before my retrieval.  I was freaked out my lining wasn't going to be ready but my period was so light it barely made a dent.)  I'm sorry.  irked.gif  That's really frustrating.  When we originally got our sperm in May of 2008, I was ready to insem the following month, and there were SO MANY THINGS we had to wait for.  In 15 months of trying, we only "tried" 8 times.  It was so frustrating those months we had to take off.  It sucks to wait.

Kgulbransen - Glad you're moving forward with the surgery.  It sounds like it's for the best.  And good luck with your swimmers this month.  Hopefully that big monster on your ovary is a ripe follicle ready for some action!  Hang in there, and see above what I wrote to Max.  Why do us lesbians always have to WAIT SO MUCH?  It seemed like for us, if it wasn't one thing, it was the other.  Always waiting.

2ezforyou - FOUR?!  That's crazy talk!  Crazy AWESOME talk!

Escher - one more thing, our NP told us that we should never stop progesterone until a negative BLOOD TEST.  She never recommends doing a HPT before you miss your period, let alone when you're on progesterone!

AFU - My HCG came back at 91!  That's more than TRIPLE what it was on Friday.  Hooray!  They said that's a good sign.  Still keeping everything crossed for our first ultrasound on 1/10/11.  Feeling much better now that I've heard.  (I was definitely feeling still pregnant when I had such a nervous stomach and would go to the bathroom and STILL nothing will come!  Best case of constipation ever.  winky.gif  )

Starling~ Still holding off?  I'm excited for tomorrow's results. I agree it's sounding really promising!!

Indigo~ Glad DP is okay! That must have been an unpleasant scare.  I hear you about trying not to judge, but I'd feel the same if friends of mine decided not to breastfeed without good cause.

2EZ~ HOORAY! for such a good scan and good riddance to the alien!!!  Your family story made me tear up. It makes me so happy that DP's parents are excited about the baby. I'm glad you're having a wonderful holiday x

Isa~ Yum for pineapples!!  Your party sounds excellent~ you'll have to post photos of your games and favors. Fun!!!

Max~ UGH.  Biggest hugs. That's such a letdown, especially after you've been waiting so long.  Fortunately they're not making you wait any longer than January, but that still seems so far away. Try and enjoy your holiday anyway, since you'll have to share it with your baby next year :)

AFM~ Got my shopping almost all done, and our tree decorated today. DP's a bit down, since her family lives in London and she's away from them for the holiday, poor thing.  I have to work extra hard to make it up to her, but fortunately she's worth it.

5G - HOT damn for the triple Beta! jumpers.gif

AFM - Quick update. Doc called around 4:30 and decided to go for it this month! I triggered tonight, which will put me at 33 hours for IUI. My doc wanted me to be at 36 hours for the IUI, but I was out and about and didn't get the shot in time. It's been a wee bit crazy the last few hours as I was on my way to the casino with my visiting parents and DP when the office called. (My parents and almost all of our family/friends DO NOT know we're TTC. We don't want the pressure of everyone asking if we're preggo, when are we inseming, etc.). So, this evening we were all in the car together when the doc's office called and I tried speaking in code. Sadly, my dad freaked a bit and asked why I had a doc appt this morning and now have to take meds tonight and drive to Nashville on Wednesday. I had to tell a wee bit of a lie and say it was all because of the alien....which is only somewhat of a half lie, right? I've had a few cysts before, so I had to skirt around the real issue by saying the doc wants me to take meds and I have to drive to Nash because I am seeing my old doctor. (Sigh.) I hate not telling the full truth, but it's just easier right now. duh.gif Hopefully we'll catch one of the eggies on Wednesday with the trigger. I am realllllly stoked this month because of the HSG I had a couple weeks ago. Here's to be fertile!

Morning all,

5Baby~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! joy.gifjumpers.gif wool.gif carrot.gif broc1.gifwool.gif jumpers.gif joy.gif I'm soooo happy for you. Stick little bean, stick.

Escher~ Good luck catching that egg! dust.gif

AFU~ We are going rounds with my insurance company I filed an appeal and we are waiting to hear theire decision. As far as inseming this month DW wanted to wait to find out what the insurance company said. We only have 2 cycles left with our KD...and she didn't want to 'waist' one. It's a good thing she talked me into taking a break this month because my oldest brother passed away and we are now headed to Memphis for the funeral. It would have been impossible to insem this month anyway, because we will be on the road.  greensad.gif I am sad because I hate to miss a month and also I'm sad for my sister-in-law and my father. It is very difficult to loose you partner and to loose a child.

Sorry I didn't get to everyone...DW is digging us out and I am supposed to be on here getting us a hotel. If I don't get back before Christmas...everyone have a wonderful Christmas. Enjoy your families!

Love ya'll  Gelly!

Gelly, I'm so so sorry for your loss.

Indigo, Glad to hear the one baby is doing so much better.  The breastfeeding thing blows my mind, tho.  Not nursing a baby so they can have a bottle is like not feeding a child whole foods so they can eat fruit loops.  False logic.  I'm so upset about it that I can't sleep.  There are hundreds of documented benefits to both mother and child.  And the decision to breastfeed is flexible and reversible (I am free to supplement or wean).  Choosing to exclusively formula feed is neither.  I know there are situations where formula is a lifesaver, (formula is like medicine, I think.  If you need it, you need it, but in a perfect world, you won't), but really, to put so much energy into creating a life and then signing up for inferior nutrition from the start is baffling.  Paying a small fortune in both the short term and long term for an imitation, when you could have the real thing for free, I just don't understand how people make that choice.  I wish people understood breastfeeding more.  I don't talk about it at work anymore, because I like to think of my co-workers as rational (and on certain topics, agreeing with me is rational, on others, it's probably good judgment to disagree with me).  Wow.  I'm done ranting.  Ok, no, I'm not.  There was even a study on the news this morning.  They were talking about following kids for 10 years and how boys who were nursed showed higher scores in math, reading and something else.  People always say, "She was never breastfed and look how smart she is!"  To which I reply, think of how much smarter she could have been.

Seraf,

Baba to

Osha, breastfed until his 4th birthday

and

Ari, weaned too early at a mere 37 months.

The next one is allowed to go until she is at least 4, because I am older, wiser and hopefully won't be going through a divorce when she's still nursing.

Gelly—I’m so very sorry to hear about your brother.  I’ll be thinking of you and your family.  hug2.gif

Indigo—glad to hear that your DP is on the mend!  And that you’ve got your tickets—April isn’t that far away!

Kgul—It does sound like the surgery is the best way to go.  Of course, I expect they’ll have to postpone it because you’re going to be preggers, but next time you should totally do it.

Oh Max, that’s awful.  I’m sorry that the holidays are messing up everything.  But January will come quickly!  hug2.gif

5G---Yay!!  Triple is awesome!  energy.gifenergy.gifenergy.gif

Graceie—pineapple is supposed to help with implantation.  Not really sure if it works (although some people are total believers), but I LOVE pineapple anyway, so eating a big slice of it every day is kind of a treat regardless.  It’s got to be fresh (not canned), and you’re supposed to eat about 1/5 of the thing every day for the first 5 days after you insem.  The one DP got for me is perfectly ripe, and is in fact beckoning me from my lunchbox as I type…

Starling—today is the day!  We’ve already got our veggies all warmed up from 5G, so you may as well give us a reason to use them again!

2EZ—Your poor dad!  Hopefully he believed you and didn’t catch on!  DP and I were in the same boat last weekend.  I don’t think they figured it out, since we were just texting, but we went to bed REALLY early (so we could wait for the dr’s call) and I was afraid they’d guess what was going on.  Good luck tomorrow!!

AFM—3 DPO and all is well!  And the Fertility-Solstice party is coming together!  I’ve got nametags of various fertility gods and goddesses (the best one is Min, Egyptian god of fertility and lettuce), a Yule Log dvd, and gift bags (speculum, cheap OPKs, FertiliTea, ginger candies, and rainbow-colored goldfish cracker ‘swimmers’).  FF, bless its heart, is putting my chart crosshairs right between the two insems.  Oh, and I keep hearing music about having a son.  And not just Christmas carols, either.  Over and over and over. It’s a sign, I say!

Happy Solstice everyone!!    coolshine.gif

She's here!
And so are the boys!

Well, it's a negative

But it's still 4 days before my AF is due, and so the test is only 53% accurate.

We're sad, but we need to be hopeful until the blood test, which is on the 27th, with results on the 28th.

I might poas on Christmas, but I might not.  They're pricey and it doesn't change anything.

Going to drown my sorrows in the kick-ass rice pudding at our local kid-friendly coffee shop now, seeing as I can't have a glass of wine.

Starling- let's DO this! BFP today! Fingers crossed!!

Gelly- so sorry to hear about your loss.

Btw, I sure am getting a good trial run by taking care of my niece. As we speak, she's EXHAUSTED in her
crib but I hear her in there squealing with laughter at something. This kid HATES NAPPING! I can't complain too much because she usually gives us between 7-9 hrs of sleep at night. Still, it would be nice to be able to get stuff done during the day (like pass the angry birds from
the 19th! GRRR!).

More later...

starling--ugh!  too early, though.  We'll save the veggies.  Rice pudding sounds divine!

Burg--oddly, the core has always been my favorite part.  I was surprised that so many people don't like to eat it.  I'm kind of sad that I already had my section for the day.

Starling - It IS too early still, so don't give up yet. You'll get a nice post Christmas surprise just in time for for the NY!

Isa - We can endure the torture of the 2ww wait together, even though you're a couple days ahead. I am pulling for ya.

Gelly - I am very sorry to hear about you loss. Such a sad thing to have happen. grouphug.gif We're all thinking about you.

Burg - I am a total believer too! I had an u/s on cd4, and the tech said there was only 1 follie, so I felt a little defeated. With that news, I didn't eat nearly as much as I needed because I wasn't sure if one would even mature. Now...I.Am.Kicking.Myself. Ugh! I (somehow) have 4 and a semi thin lining. Who knew? Anyway, I am eating like a madwoman and I have NO tastebuds. I've always had issues with a thin lining. Last month (when I hate like 4), my lining was the thickest it's ever been. This month was somewhat decent at 6, but not quite enough just yet.

Kgul - It's a tough decision to make, especially when you only have limited availability with the donor. Good luck!

Starling&diesel: It is still definitely early, but I know that negative tests are still hard to take. hug.gif I hope that you are able to distract yourself well for the next few days (rice pudding sounds like a good start!), and that you get better news the next time you test. fingersx.gif

Isa: I wish I could come to your party! It sounds terrific. orngbiggrin.gif

Seraf: I like your analogy of formula as medicine--terrific when needed, not good at all when not needed.

Gelly: hug2.gif I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll be thinking of you and your family. hug.gif

2ez: Hooray for being almost at insem time! I've had that situation too, of being with my folks when I got a call. It is HARD. I think telling a little lie is exactly the right thing to do in that situation. Good luck catching the egg tomorrow! fingersx.gif

Indigo: I'm so glad that your friend's baby is doing better. AND I'm glad that your DP seems to be on the mend. Good news all around! How is temping going so far?

Library: It sounds like you're almost all ready for Christmas!

5G: Hooray!!!! joy.gif (In response to your question: I take prometrium as a suppository. I agree that 12dpo seems a bit early to stop, since stopping the prometrium will cause AF to arrive for me. So maybe I will wait a few extra days even though my RE doesn't think it is necessary. Usually she wants me to come for a blood test before stopping. I don't know what her deal is this time. Anyway, thanks for the advice!)

Max: hug.gif I'm so sorry you have to wait another cycle. How dumb that they won't start you now. hug2.gif

Kgulbransen: I'm glad that they were able to schedule your surgery so soon. With those percentages, it definitely sounds like a good choice to do it! (In response to your thoughts about progesterone: In the past, AF has always held off until I stopped taking the prometrium, so I assume that will continue to be true (although I certainly could be wrong). It's good to know that in your experience a bfn at 12dpo is accurate. Thanks!)

AFM: The prometrium is continuing to give me more side effects than normal, in terms of food aversions and strange hunger and generally not feeling great. My theory is that since this is my third cycle taking a B-complex vitamin, the B6 has finally kicked in and raised my progesterone, so with the prometrium my progesterone is higher than it has been before and that's why I'm having more side effects. lol.gif Does anyone know if that could be true? orngtongue.gif

Escher, sounds good to me.  Double dose would make you more symptomatic.  Its too early to be the bean producing her own?

Max, I'm so sorry they're postponing you for crappy reasons.

Starling, you still have a 47% chance of it being too early to test?  You're still rocking.  I feel you on how bad a negative looks, but it is crazy early.  Happy solstice!

2ez, fingers crossed that the pineapple does the trick, 4 mature follies seems awesome.

Graceie, did you say you're trying in Febuary or March?  I think I'm March.

5grand, So things have calmed down with her withdrawl?  She sounds like a pretty good night time sleeper!  I don't think I got uninterupted sleep for 5 years after my daughter.

Just hanging out and waiting.  Sara read my post and said I should tell y'all that she has made an about face where breastfeeding is concerned.  When we first started dating she thought it wasn't for her.  She is now fully onboard to try.

Indigo~ Biggest of hugs right back to you. DP sends extra big hugs and thanks. She has a Skype date with her brother and sister to watch Santa Claus the Movie with them tomorrow morning. I also went to TJ Maxx to find a flannel nightgown for her and found a giant tin of Cadbury's Roses, so that's making her feel better too. Thanks again!

Starling~ I'm sorry you had to look at a negative test, but I agree that 58% accuracy is not much. You'll get your bfp soon enough!!!

2ez~ YAY for trying this cycle!! I'm sure a Christmas miracle is in your stars.

Isa~ I also think that the musical gods and goddesses are trying to tell you something and that your little boy egg is splitting even as we speak.   Your party sounds excellent! Is the Egyptian goddess the one that's represented by a pregnant hippo?  A woman totally came up with that, for sure.  Oh, and THANK YOU for the cookies!!!! They arrived today and we can't wait to eat them!

Seraf~ I enjoyed your rant. I too don't know why you'd choose inferior nutrition for your baby without medical necessity, though occasionally there is no other choice. My friend who has 38 HH breasts simply never made any milk. She was so mad! She said "I carried these damn things around my whole life and they don't even work!!!!!"

Gelly~ I am so sorry for your loss. This is not what you should have to be doing over the holiday. My best to you and your family xo

AFM~ Worn out from shopping, but I think I'm finally done.   Had our midwife appointment this morning. All's well, though I gained a pound more than I should have. Stupid Christmas!!!  Still, her heartbeat's strong and she's kicking up a storm!!

Hello, I think I'm ready to stick my toe in the water. I've been charting for several months and right now we are planning the first insem for February. I'm about to O so it'll be the endish of Feb.

I was on the MDC boards a few years ago.(When S&D got pregnant the first time!) I didn't post terribly often, but lurked religiously.  Our original family building plan was for my partner to get pregnant first and then i'd carry #2.  We did several insems at home, and she was pregnant twice, but lost them around 6.5 weeks each time. NOW we know she has a thyroid deficiency. Anyway, life moves on and it now makes much more sense for me to be pregnant. (she's applying to law schools and my job is very flexible)  So here we go......

Our son is 5 and in kindergarten. He came home at 9 months and we finalized his adoption (from local foster care) when he was almost 2. When we first started TTC, he was with us, but the adoption was still very very very up in the air and the fear of miscarriage and of losing him at the same time was just too much. We wanted our kids to be closer in age, but are feeling good about the years off from the stress of TTC.  I'm just 30, so hopefully my eggs don't feel as old as I do tonight. I am SO READY for holiday break to start tomorrow.

 So, hi. hola.gif

Welcome Serepartera~ That's quite a story! It's wonderful that you adopted, though it's great you're trying to conceive one now.  This is an awesome board, glad to have you on it!

Welcome Serepartera - You've joined a great group! Where are you from? Our DS was adopted at 1, and is now 6. They grow soooooo fast. I wanted our kids to be closer in age too, but we've been trying now for 2 years and still no luck. Fingers crossed we'll have our next before DS is 17. nut.gif I too worry about the ever-so-aging-eggies! I'll be 35 on Dec 30, so I constantly watch the clock with every month that passes.

Library - 38HH??? Whoa! Your poor friend. yikes2.gifyikes2.gifyikes2.gifyikes2.gif

Whoa - me again, huh? Ok, I'll keep it brief and I have a couple questions.

The IUI went great!!! I left Memphis at 4:45 am to get to Nashville at 8. The IUI was scheduled for 9:30. Needless to say, it's been a looooooong day and it's only 1:30. Anyway, no discomfort and immediate cramping on my right side. There are no follies on the right, so I am hoping the boys took a hard left and made the adjustment to my left ovary.

During my drive to/from, I had alot of time to think (and try to stay awake) and I had a couple questions for anyone who feels like responding:

1. Anyone using a midwife, I am curious to know what made you decide to do this versus a regular OBGYN?

2. For those of you who trigger with Ovidrel, how long does it stay in your system? I've decided I want to take HPT each day to see how long it stays in me. Thinking I would start today, I just took a test and it's showing negative. So, already, I am having no luck with my "experiement." headscratch.gif Has anyone done something similar?

Good luck in this 2ww 2ez!  I'm glad the insem went well, even if it was a little nutty.  I swear someone should compile a book of insem stories.  I've heard some hysterical ones!

So, we went with a midwife w/child #1 and we're going with one for the twins because we both were invested in having the birth process treated as a natural part of human life, not as a medical problem to be solved.  We were lucky enough the first time around to be about 45 minutes from a Kaiser that had an entire midwifery program.  So even though DP ended up with an unplanned (though by no means emergency) c-section, both of us felt like we got to make all the decisions.  My partner labored naturally for 45+ hours and the midwives were willing to hang in there with her until the very end.  In fact, after we finally opted for a c-section one of the midwives told us that they had been holding off the docs for a good 12 hours because they had wanted to do one much earlier, way before DP and I would have been ready to make that decision.

We've chosen a midwife with hospital privileges again for this round (we moved to a new state).  She's low key and great.  When I first found out about the twins I thought there was no way I was going to be able to have a natural birth.  She looked at me like I was nuts and said "We do natural twin births all the time.  All we need is one facing head down and we are good to go."  That said, I do have to give birth in an operating room, not a birthing room, because of the higher chances that I might need intervention.

Hope that helps!
