What do you all think of Esa, pronounced "EE-sa"? Does it sound gender-neutral?

I think of Dora the Explorer, (Isa the Iguana) and that's all I can think of. Sorry.

For gender neutral, I still like the name Shane or Shay (as seen on The L Word).

For a while Isa was on our list for a girl. We know a little boy named Isah. Both pronounced the same. I like it for either...nice and flexi!

Shoot. We don't watch Dora so I didn't know about Isa the Iguana. I like Shane too but my partner nixed it. Elliot was also a contender but was nixed for being too popular. I'm going to go insane in this name process. Only 13 weeks left to decide...

Whoa! I'm an iguana? That's just crazy! I'll have to work on hanging out in palm trees...

For anyone thinking of using Isa, it's not my real name, but it's been my nickname for half of my life now, and I have to say that it's really a nice one. You could also go biblical and do Esau, which I think would work for a boy or a girl.

She's here!
And so are the boys!

My 2 daughters are Kasey and Reagan.  I didn't intend to give them both gender neutral names but that is how it worked out and we love them!

Two I heard tonight as boys names, but 1st century boys names that could easily be either were;

Arius

Athanasius

It was a religious history seminar and Arius and Athanasius were on either sides of a debate about Jesus' divinity. If historical significance of the name matters to you. They just struck me as kinda cool names.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, everyone, and keep 'em coming. We're still undecided... uuuuuuugggghgghghhhhhh! But perhaps this thread will inspire others down the line who are looking for GN names. There are plenty of good ones here, just none that my partner and I agree on. dizzy.gif

We thought a while about Nico and both liked it... but we think we've finally decided on a different name. Of course my partner won't let me tell anyone because DP wants no feedback to affect us and our decision. But in about 12 weeks, I will let you all know. :) I will say that the first name is one that someone mentioned here, though we had mulled it a bit beforehand.
