I stumbled upon this site yesterday while researching how to get me insurance to cover a home birth in NC and I am so glad to find this place.  Starting a family can be difficult enough but then through in the fact that there are 2 uteruses and it gets even trickier.  I've become addicted to the Queer Parenting part of the forum.  This is exactly the place I needed to find!

I guess I'll give you a little back story on me.  I am 27 and my wife, Julie, and I have been together for 2 years and married for 1 (on the 19th).  Before we met we had both convinced ourselves we didn't want children because it seemed like such an unattainable goal.  After dating for several months the topic of having children came up and we admitted that we both really wanted to have children.  Here we are nearly 2yrs later beginning the journey to becoming mommies!

We have our first appointment with a fertility specialist in 3wks and I have no idea what to expect.  We met last week with a midwife and that was a huge disappointment.  She was completely clueless as to how 2 women would get pregnant and she doesn't do home births. I'm hoping the appointment with the fertility specialist goes a lot better.  I've done tons of research so I know I wan to do IUI and we will be using Julie's brother's sperm, as they look a lot alike and we both want a baby that looks like us.  That's about as far as we've gotten with the whole insemination process.

I really look forward to all of your future posts.  I hope you guys will be patient with me cause I'm sure I'm going to have a ton of questions.  I am a worrier so I do a lot of research and asking questions to combat that.
