so i have my big follicle scan in a bit less than 12 hours, and i'm nervous.  this is the first cycle where i'm just doing injectables which means it's kind of a test cycle.  it's only cd8 for me tomorrow, but i'm still hoping i'll be able to trigger tuesday and insem on wednesday. DP cannot miss work on thursday, and if i have to get the IUI that day, it will mean taking a slew of trains and buses to get to the hospital in belgium.  and if i have >3 follies, they'll cancel the IUI ...unless, of course, i don't tell them.  anyway, i could use some good vibes for tomorrow....

Nosreves: I hope you have some big follicles tomorrow! If you have more than three, I just wouldn't tell them. The odds of multiples are so low even with four or five that it doesn't matter all that much.

Invitin: Good luck! I hope this is your month!

AFM: I'm hormonal tonight and trying not to cry. I'm only 10 DPO (11, if you count the day we did the IUI) and I feel like I'm about to get AF. I'm still having lots of white CM, but now it's turned sticky. If I start bleeding in the next day or so I'm really going to try and talk the doctor into giving me progesterone supplements for next month.

rs11 -- thanks for the encouragement and a big *HUG* to you.  i hope you're hormonal for reasons completely unrelated to AF, and that the witch stays away for a long, long time. hug2.gif

Things have turned around!  The other person interested in the car ended up buying it and only for $100 less than what I had bought it for, so I only lost out on a little!  YAY!  Also, we went to visit DSp's parents for his dad's birthday.  The in-laws watched DD for a little bit so we could go the casino boat.  Ended up winning quite a bit at slot machines and walked away with 2 mortgage payments worth (or 2 swim team shipments)!  My luck was absolutely incredible.  HUGE relief.  And, I had a conversation with my mother about my sister's elopement.  She told me that her heart was hurting the whole time during the ceremony because I wasn't there.  She is totally on my side of things, so that was quite a condolence.  My sister has NEVER done anything wrong in her life when it comes to my mother, so it was nice to not have her stick up for my sister and try to help me through this.

Here's to hoping the next positive thing in my life will be a pregnancy test!

NOS, Good luck!!!

wow...those vibes sure did work!  my lining is over 8mm (great for me, especially considering it's only cd8) and i have more follies than i expected.  there are 3 on the right side between 16 and 19mm and two that are around 13mm. there are also two follies the left ovary, but that's the side with the blocked fallopian tube.  DP thinks that given my age and the lack of a BFP thus far, i should go ahead with the iui.  i really wish they were doing bloodwork on me so i could check my estrogen levels....  in any case, i think we're going to insem at home tomorrow and go to belgium wednesday. eeek....

rs: When are you testing? I'm sorry you're having a tough time. hug2.gif

nosreves: Good luck with the insem today!

lisedea: I hope you're wrong greensad.gif Keep us updated if you can.

Afm: I'm feeling a lot better physically. I feel like I've lost 10 lbs. I was so bloated for so long and I just feel "lighter" which is an awesome feeling right now. I'm still really scared to go through this again but my confidence is growing every day. I think we're going to try after my next AF. I have been comparing whether it's been harder this time around than it was with DD and really, it's almost the same. DD was conceived on our 7th try and I had 3 m/c before. This has been 4 m/c and 6 tries. So maybe I'm due for a sticky one. My twisted logic. Anyway, as I said, I'm getting there to feeling good about trying again. I'm starting my cleanse this week. We're off to Vegas for a week for a work conference for me at the end of March and I'd like to be done the cleanse by then! If all goes 'normally' with my cycles then we would likely try mid-April.

Carmen, I'm glad you're doing well, and that you're feeling positive. I like your twisted logic, and I'm hoping for a sticky bean for you next too! Enjoy the cleanse and have a great time in Las Vegas.

Lisedea -- At first I mistakenly didn't see page 16 and posted a veggie parade for you, and then I saw the news and had to edit my post. I am so sorry about the spotting and what that could mean. Don't give up hope! All of my fingers and toes are crossed for you.

Carmen -- That sounds like a very, very trying experience. I definitely would have had a good cry, too! But I'm glad that now you are able to move forward and get one step closer to a BFP.

Krista -- I asked the midwife about my FSH, and she said I haven't been tested for that. Evidently my intake bloodwork consisted of things like my blood type and thyroid and STD tests, but not some of the things that might be really valuable here. She said their thinking for someone my age (35) is to go through three unmedicated cycles before doing any of that. I did two ICIs before starting at the clinic, and the midwives seem ambivalent about whether that should count. But she seemed willing to let me start testing next cycle if I really want to. Re anovulation, that's certainly possible with my irregular cycles. But I ended up having more possible O signs (see below).

Thank you to everyone who chimed in with advice about more bloodwork. I think that will be the way to go if I don't get pregnant this cycle.

But in the meantime, AFM, I got another smiley and two strong positives on the cheapies on Saturday morning (CD 26), and I had some sensation in my ovaries. We scheduled an insem for Sunday. Then, on Sunday morning, I actually had some EWCM! We insemmed at the midwife's office, and she said it went well. She liked the look of my mucus and had an easy time placing the catheter. Plus, wifey was able to come, and the place was so quiet and peaceful because we were the only people there. So, although I am still bracing myself to perhaps get diagnosed with ovulation problems at some future date, I am tentatively feeling hopeful as I enter another TWW.

Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone!

I'm Brandi. This is my first time posting here, but I've been reading for a while. I hope this is an okay place for my first post?

My partner and I have been thinking about ttc for over a year now and we finally started this month! I've been tracking my cycles for six months and I always get two positive ovulation tests: one on CD 10 and one on CD 11. This time we only got a positive on CD 10 around 8 pm. We did the insemination at home last night at 8:30 (on CD 11), but I'm nervous we might have been too late since I was no longer getting positive tests. I've read that a lot of people only get one positive testing day. Anyone know if there is still a chance I might have timed it decently?

Since this is only our first try, we're not expecting much. But I'm secretly really really hoping that it works. How great would it be to only have to go through this once?!?

Good luck to you all!

Lisedea: I really hope you're wrong. I'm sending sticky vibes your way.

Nosreves: That's great! I just wouldn't even mention the two follicles on your left side to the Belgiums if I were you. And your DP is right; at your age, the more follicles you have, the better the chances of a good egg. I would go ahead with it.

Carmen: I'm glad you're feeling somewhat better and more at peace. *Hugs* I hope the next time you try, you'll get a BFP and a sticky bean!

Outdoorsy: Yay for insemming! I hope this is your final TWW, but, if not, you might want to push to have those FSH levels checked. If they're off, even though you're ovulating, you might not be having "good" ovulations.

B: Welcome.gif You could still have timed it correctly; not everyone gets the surge for two days every month. Also, you don't ovulate the day you get the surge; it's anywhere from 24-36 hours later. If it doesn't work for you this cycle, you might want to see if you can figure out how long after the initial positive you actually ovulate. Frozen sperm doesn't live as long as fresh.

AFM: If this cycle is like last month, AF is due today. So far, there's been no sign of the witch this morning. If she stays away today and tomorrow, we'll test sometime on Wednesday. Here's the thing: even if AF comes, I feel like I may have conceived this month. I know there's no way to tell, but this cycle has been *different* than all the others we've done. All of the others have been fairly similar, both with IUI and ICI (even the disastrous clomid cycle was otherwise similar). There's been a lot more CM, a lot more cramping and hormonal issues in general. Does that make any sense? It's probably just wishful thinking, but I am a scientist by training, and I'm *trying* to be objective.

Welcome.gif  Brandi!  you're definitely in the right place. i hope it's okay that i went ahead and added you to the the list of gals in the two week wait (TWW) on the first page of this thread.  timing is one of the hardest things when you're inseminating, but from the sound of things, you got it right.  were there other signs (egg-white cervical mucus, a high and open cervix, ovary pains) that you noticed?   what did your temperature look like today?  are you inseminating with fresh or frozen, doing IUIs or ICIs?  tell us more about you and your DP.  i hope your stay here in QC is short and sweet!

My partner is 23 and I am 22. We have been together for three years (engaged/married for two), but we've known each other our whole lives. We were actually next door neighbors growing up! We were planning to get married this year, but since it is not legal in Texas, we decided to put that money towards having a baby. We both have very stable jobs and I am almost finished with my paralegal certificate in school. We have two sweet dogs (pit bulls) who basically own our lives.

I have only been tracking my cycles with an online menstural/ovulation calendar. I have never tracked my temperature, but I think I might start. Throughout the six months I've been tracking, I've never really noticed the egg-white cervical mucus. I have had it before, but I guess just not enough to think of it as a definite sign of ovulation. I definitely get ovary pains on CD 10 and 11.

We are using frozen sperm and doing ICIs. Since this was our first time, the large tank that that tiny little vial came in was quite intimidating! We thawed the vial using a cold water bath for ten minutes. On CD 10 when i got the positive test, I was having ovary pains. We just used a 5 mL syringe. Does anyone have any experience using a catheter? With the syringe, we got a TON of air bubbles that we couldn't get out. After we did the insemination, we inserted the Instead Cup and my DP wouldn't let me get out of bed for two hours! This morning I am still having slight ovary pains/cramping.

I'm hoping that participating in this forum will keep me distracted during the tww. I'm trying not to over analyze every little thing my body is doing today!

i have a quick question for anyone who has done IUIs with a trigger shot.  i've got my appointment to be insemm'ed on Wednesday at noon.  the doc wants me to trigger at 8pm tonight (Monday) which would be 40 hours before the insemination.  does that sound right?  should i wait and do it 36 hours before?  there seem to be so many conflicting things online...any advice would be greatly appreciated!

wow, i missed a lot by taking the weekend off.

Outdoorsy - I love the quietness of the weekend office hours at my clinic! It is kind of soothing in a weird sci-fi way, like "this medical facility belongs to us"? Maybe I read too much science fiction. I'm glad you got your smiley face, though, and fx for your next two weeks!

Carmen - I'm keeping you in my thoughts. I hope all is well and you're feeling okay. you're due for a sticky one! fx.

Esenbee - it sounds like your luck has turned around dramatically for the better - i hope you can keep riding the wave of good luck right into your BFP!

RS - Sorry that things are hard. Have you had cd21 progesterone test? with an lp so short, it seems like progesterone supplements might be helpful!

Bwill - welcome! FX for your beginner's luck :)

nosreves - my clinic schedules the trigger shot and iui about 24 hours apart, but i feel like 36 is more optimal so last time my dw pushed them to give us an iui appointment about 30 hours after our shot. the egg lives for 12-24 hours on its own, so if you o'ed quickly, you might miss it but it seems more probable that your timing would be okay.... I would shoot for 36 hours if it was me, though. I hope everything goes really smoothly for you! What kind of side effects did you have from the injectables?

Lise - I missed a veggie parade for you but I hope everything is okay with you. I would love it if you were wrong about AF! hugs and everything.

Sorry if I missed anyone! I got a little overwhelmed but I'm sending you good thoughts anyway.

AFM - This tww is a lot more relaxed than the last one. I think that the hcg shot I got for my last cycle induced this total pregnancy mania, so I've made up my mind to just blame any and every
"symptom" this time around on the trigger shot. My ravenous hunger, sense of smell, random bouts of nausea, loss of appetite and creamy CM are all completely the trigger shot. Because I'm 6DPO! It's not even possible for an embryo to have such a strong presence yet! So I keep twiddling my thumbs and obsessing about eating roasted squash and no-bake cookies. And grapefruit.

nos- FTR, I used the trigger twice, both times I had an IUI exactly 36 post trigger, I got pg both times! I think it can definitely depend on the individual but 40 seems kinda long... just my :2cents

Nos: studies have shown better success rates with 36 hour insemination post trigger, than 24 hours. I agree, 40 hours is too late however there are some of us that ovulate later than 24-36 hours after trigger. The trigger is supposed to get you to ovulate within 24-36 hours (another reason why 40 is too late) but I have determined I ovulate around 70 hours after. We also changed our mind after some deep research and opted not to do the trigger. I got pregnant once on a trigger and twice without.

Good luck!

Wow! What a busy weekend its been here! I dont have a lot of time for personals but I do want to say:

Carmen- Im glad things are finally moving along for you but Im sorry that it didnt happen naturally for you. How are you feeling today?

Lise- I'm sorry that it is looking like this is going to be another loss for you. Have you had any more bleeding or any other signs to indicate that this pregnancy isn't going to continue? My thoughts are with you and I am really hoping that this is just a false alarm and you will have a happy healthy nine months hug2.gif

Im thinking of you all and hoping to see more BFPs this month! I will be back later to post more.

After years of waiting, DP and I are so excited for the arrival of our baby girl, expected January 15th 2015.
Remebering our Angel Baby, Emery.

merci beaucoup cananny, mrs², wehrli and krista for the advice! (and thanks for the encouragement, outdoorsy!)  after reading what everyone wrote, i ended up triggering right around 36 hours before the presumed insemination in belgium.  i will still be doing a fresh insem at about 20 hours post trigger, but with the sad state of my cervix, i'm not counting too much on the swimmers making it through the gates.

mrs² -- i don't think i had too many side effects from the injectables... i have had weird headaches nearly every night, but i don't know if that's the change in the weather or the meds.  i didn't shoot up tonight and i still got one, so maybe it's just that spring is preparing to spring.  i think i had more side effects from the trigger and the booster last month than from the follistim....and don't even get me started on the hell that was clomid...  glad to hear you are doing well in the tww(t).  fingers crossed for this cycle!  what are no-bake cookies, btw??

wehrli -- that gives me real hope.  now if only i get a LO who's as cute as S.

krista-- wow, 70 hours is waaay long.  i know i had some super strong mittelschmerz from around 32 hours to 38 hours post trigger last time....  i hope that was an indication of ovulation.

cananny -- the injectables were not nearly as hard to do as i expected.  i am generally needle-shy, but after a few trigger shots, the follistim pen was no big deal.  my belly has some little bruises on it, but i'll trade black and blue for two lines on an hpt any day.  i also had way more follicles than i expected....  hopefully, one of them will be *the* one.  you mentioned that you might be moving on to injectables if this cycle doesn't pan out, but hopefully it won't be necessary.  you should be around 11dpo now, no?  still having interesting symptoms?  any plans on testing?  fingersx.gif

afm...the trigger has been pulled, the KD has been lined up for tomorrow night, and DP has taken wednesday off.  looks like we're going on another road trip!  unfortunately, DP's temps took a nose dive today, and she thinks that AF will be here soon... i guess we'll be spending more time across the border in a couple of weeks.  at least there is Milka flavored Philly cream cheese and tons of vegetarian food where we're headed.   my apologies in advance for swamping the thread with questions, but i was thinking that i might try progesterone suppositories this month instead of an hcg booster.  the booster gave me horrible acid reflux and apparently it can make OHSS more likely.  any opinions or anecdotes from those of you who have done the vaginal progesterone?

did i mention how much i adore all you fabulous gals? flowersforyou.gif
