Emily Kazyak, a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is conducting a research project to find out: 1) how same-sex couples raising children make decisions about whether or not to pursue a second-parent adoption or other forms of legal recognition and 2) how parents address their legal statuses in day-to-day interactions.
She is hoping to interview parents with a variety of viewpoints and experiences – including parents who have and have not done a second-parent adoption (or other forms of legal recognition). To be eligible, you must be in a same-sex couple and raising at least one child, and live in Iowa, Nebraska, or Missouri. She is hoping to interview parents living in a variety of places - including in rural, urban, and suburban areas.
She is recruiting people for confidential interviews that will last about an hour. Participants will be compensated $15. The Institutional Review Board at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has approved this study.
If you are interested in participating in the study or to find out more about it, please contact Dr. Emily Kazyak at firstname.lastname@example.org or (402) 937-9057.
I'm still looking for LGBTQ parents in Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri.
There's a chance I might extend beyond those states for this study. I also plan to do a larger study that includes all of the U.S. If you're interested, feel free to message me or contact me at: email@example.com.
I've also created a Facebook page for the study:
