I'm a 38-year-old woman with a very handsome, lovely, amazing guy who happened to be a woman when we met! We have been together 5.5 years and feel ready to have a kid. This brings up a little problem, because -- although he's had a very successful social, medical, and legal transition to life as a man -- we don't have any sperm in the house!
We live in a college town in the midwest. We're working with Pacific Reproductive Services to acquire sperm. We've already tried 1 ICI at home, but have decided to bump up to IUI on our next attempt.
I feel young, but at 38 I know that statistically we might run into some problems. I'm a hispanic, geeky, liberal, funny book-lover who's a little bit chubby. My partner is an affable, fun, blond guy into the outdoors. I'll definitey be the one to carry the baby. We chose several sperm donors that look a little bit like him.
Nice to meet you!
Just a note to say hi! Another queer woman with a trans partner here: We have a toddler and I'm 28 weeks pregnant with a second baby now. Oh, and we're in the Midwest, too!
Typing on my phone now, so I'll leave it at that. Welcome, and best of luck on project baby!
Joyful, busy, often overwhelmed queer academic mama to an awesome toddler and:
Hi Beastie and foureyes- I am also a queer woman with a trans partner, but I am not in the midwest like you all are.
Foureyes- If you have not already you should come on over to queer conceptions for february. There are a bunch of wonderfully educated people over there that can help you along in the process.
