Family Pride Launches Registration for Family Week 2006!
Our 11th Annual Celebration of LGBT Families in Provincetown
Family Week 2006 is set to be the anchor of Family Pride programming during the most ambitious and important year in Family Pride’s rich 27-year history. Register Now! This year LGBT families are going to be hit hard – anti-LGBT family sentiment in state legislatures is estimated to be at an all time high. In 2006, we can expect to see:
Five state constitutional adoption and foster care bans, as well as
Seven additional bills aimed at weakening our families, hurting our children
With your help and the help of our friends and allies, we will work tirelessly against these heinous attempts to write hatred in to our laws.
Consequently, in 2006 our 18-month public awareness campaign, Real Families, Real Facts (http://www.RealFamiliesRealFacts.com
) will be in full swing, including an Academic Symposium, the creation of a researchable database for LGBT family information, the launch of our OUTSpoken Families national LGBT family speaker’s bureau, as well as a National LGBT Family Conference.
Clearly, it will be more important than ever before for LGBT families to join together. One of the tenets of Family Pride’s mission is to provide support - what better place to do that than at the biggest and best family reunion.
Family Week 2006
July 29-Aug. 5
It will be imperative, in this coming year, to gather together, stand shoulder to shoulder, and celebrate the depth, diversity and beauty of our loving families.
Family Week is nothing short of a transformative experience for LGBT parents and our children alike -- just ask any of the 400 families that attended last year! For the 11th consecutive year, Family Pride’s Family Week will provide a safe and vibrant space for LGBT parents and their children to gather, and has once again invited COLAGE (Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere) to provide programming for youth nine years and older. Family Week is a unique opportunity for children of LGBT parents to be in a space where all of the other kids are “just as alike” and “just as different” as them.
Family Week is also an incredibly relaxed environment for you to build new and lasting relationships with other LGBT parents and their families. Because every family has different needs, several activities are planned for people of every age (toddler to adults) each day -- your family’s schedule can be as full of activities or as relaxed as you choose. Some of this year’s events and activities will include:
Welcome Family Beach Picnic Parents Workshops & Children's Activities
Family Breakfast Diversity Gatherings
Orientation Campfire & S'mores
Family Parade Kite Flying & Beach Games
Pajama Party & Movie Night Awards Ceremony & Ice Cream Social
Little Gatherings for Little People Sandcastle Contest
Family Dinner Major Donor Clambake
Kiddie Bop Baby & Toddler Party

This year, we were committed to making Family Week registration available earlier than ever before because we want you to be able to look forward all year long to a week that is a safe, joyous and unlike any other. Since we know that the holidays can often leave folks with a strained budget, for a limited time we are offering an
Early Bird Special -- a discounted Family Week registration fee for all families that register now.
I truly look forward to getting to know all our families better this coming year as we, at Family Pride, remain committed and dedicated to bolstering LGBT parents and their families through advocacy, education and support. And by creating the best Family Week ever! Now that this holiday season has passed, I would like to invite you to give an incredible gift to your family -- the promise of a summer vacation together at Family Week 2006.
