well, smartycat, at least it's now legal for you to smoke pot for medicinal reasons. So if the anxiety / sadness gets to be too much, that would count, wouldn't it?

I was so happy this morning about Obama. Now it just feels like such a bitter sweet day. Proud to be an American this morning and wishing I lived in another country this afternoon.

Like keely I don't place any personal value in marriage but what devastates me is the homophobia and hate that this represents. This is a civil rights issue. I'm so sorry to those of you whose marriages have just been undermined because of a hateful campaign waged by a small but powerful minority.

Sure! But I vote that it's on the west coast ... because we lotus eaters are already full of granola-crunchy-peace-love-chop-wood-haul-water commune goodness.

A funny legal marriage anecdote: I took my DP's last name and have just gotten around to making it appear on all my plastic bits and bobs in my wallet. I went to the tiny DMV office in our wee mountain town and plopped my old driver's license and my new marriage certificate onto the counter and explained that I wanted to change my driver's license to reflect my married name.

The woman looked at the certificate and then at me, looked at the certificate again ... frowned, clearly thinking very hard about what she was looking at ... then she looked back up at me with the biggest grin on her face and said, "You'll be our very first same-sex marriage name change ever!"

Didn't make my horrid driver's license picture look any better ... :

Hi Ladies,

Just found this morning that I have had a fetal demise. Growth apparently stopped about a week and a half ago--at 8 weeks, 4 days--and there was no heartbeat. So now it's a waiting game to see if nature takes its course or I need a D&C.

PROUD mama to Amiya, age 6 , and Asher, born 10/2009 . Loving partner to dp, Amy.

Too cool. Kind of makes me wish I had changed my name when we got married. But in the province of Quebec, believe it or not marriage (gay or straight) is not considered legal grounds for a name change.

And now, a PSA from your newly in her second trimester pregnant queer. If, on the phone, you promise a pregnant woman McDonald's and then don't actually get her any, she will not be a happy camper. She might actually not talk to you for a bit. Just saying.
