Thank you to everyone for your kind words about my friend's death.
This is one of those times when the queer board is so valuable.
As far as I know, there are no other queers in my DDC ... and because her suicide was directly related to the homophobia she experienced from her family, I just didn't want to get into it on a straight board.

I very much appreciate you all ...

I'm feeling like a bit of a Jen stalker. I've been refreshing this thread all day since she went into labour!

I have the news from Jen:

E was born at 1:30 am today. It was a surgical birth, so they'll be at the hospital for few days. Jen will update soon, but wanted you all to stop holding your breath.

Congrats to you Jen!!! An E name, eh? I wonder if your taste in names is as good as mine.

I am sorry to hear that it turned out to be a rcs, but am really glad that your little one is safely here earthside. Here's to hoping that even though it was a surgical birth, it was one that you'll have good memories of.

meanwhile, someone asked when my baby is due a ways back. December 13 is the EDD, and he had better not get any idea's from Jen's LO, as I don't have substitute coverage until then!

Geez... you go away for a few days and so much happens.

KJM I am so sorry for your loss. Lots of hugs for you. And prayers for your healing.

S&D - I hate to hear about the loss of your friend. And I hate to hear some of the possible reasons behind her pain. MY DP gets no support from her family and sometimes I just don't think they realize how much that really hurts her.

Jen - : : : Yeah for baby E's arrival!!! I can't wait to hear the story.

AAM: We had our ultrasound today and got to see the little one. Himer (our gender neutral pronoun) was swimming around like crazy. The tech could hardly get any good pictures. But it was great to see himer and know everything is there that's supposed to be there and appears to be functioning properly.

Preeclampsia scare over! After 2 marathon testing/monitoring sessions, the hospital came up with nothing so I am thrilled to say that at 37 weeks I am finally clear for a birth centre birth!! I also tested negative to GBS which is awesome because in moments of doom, I'd convinced myself I was positive.

I've been having a lot of period like cramps and stacks of BH contrax in the last week. Fingers crossed that this babe comes soon!

Randi... ... so good to hear that baby's little heart is galloping along.

As for us: Today is my last day on the ambulance! :
As of 6pm PST (so long as we don't get a late call out) I will be on maternity / parental leave for 14 months! Hallelujah!

Part of me is nervous about leaving work, but the larger part of me is thrilled.
The last couple of weeks have been hard, and now that pelvic and hip pain and trouble sleeping and an aching back are all rearing their lovely heads, shift work at a highrisk job is no longer appealing.

Beans and rice at our house! And a hearty thank you to the Canadian government for making this possible ...

For all you mama's hanging in there until the last moment, I will be sending my thoughts your way.

Keely, I'm sorry about your wee babe. I so wish this pregnancy turned out differently for you.

And S & D, how devastating about your friend. I'm so sorry.

hugs to everyone.

aam: Hanging in here at 36 weeks, totally swamped and a bit panicked about extricating myself from work in the next few weeks. Ah well. And having poignant moments with M--as is pretty typical, I think, I can't imagine another kid as wonderful as her.

Oh and labor--I so am hoping to have an unmedicated birth, and feel pretty darn unprepared mentally. Yikes.

With the heaviest of hearts, we need to be removed from the list.

We had an ultrasounds today at our first midwife appointment and there was no heartbeat.

Needless to say, we are beyond heartbroken. No real words for it.

This is too awful to be real. I am so, so sorry Megin and Katie. Of course there is nothing anyone can do to make this better, but if you think of anything that might help even a little, please let us know. Sending lots of love and hope for happiness to come someday soon.
