I am trying to repurpose some shorts into skirts. I have done some googling and found a video tutorial where a woman did in fact sew shorts into a skirt but she inserted a triangle shaped panel in the front and back of the shorts tpo make the transformation to skirt and I was hoping to find a way to make a skirt without adding a fabric insert because I do not like the look of the skirt with the panels added. Hoping for the skirt to be made out of just the original fabric of the shorts only, if that makes sense.

Anyone have any ideas? Hoping to do this for both adult shorts ( to make into skirt for me) and also for children's sizes ( want to repurpose my son's old shorts into a skirt for my daughter).

Any advice or help is so very much appreciated!
