I'm looking to make something like this for two seats in our van. I was hoping to make it without a pattern to spend as little money as possible. Anyone have a free pattern or some tips that could help a very inexperienced sewer?

I was thinking to measure the seat back, then get some material. Fold in the edges and iron them flat, then sew around the edges. Cut some material for pockets of varying sizes adding about an 1" around to give the pockets some depth to put stuff in. Then to sew those on the first part. Then sew two strips to tie the top and maybe two on the bottom.

Thanks,
Lisa :

I know it's been a while since you posted, so it may not be relevant anymore, but I just bought this pattern at Hancock Fabrics for $1. They put patterns on sale pretty often but that price is usually good in store only. You can check their website to see if they have a store in your area. HTH.
