What is the best backpack carrier?

I need something kind of heavy duty, for hikes, long days at festivals or the zoo.

Ds is too heavy to carry in my Rosado sling now for more than just quick trips into the store or whatever.

And I am not sure the wrap style back carriers will do for long treks either.

I have heard good things about Kelty.. what do y'all think?

I have a kelty Town carrier and Dh likes it. We havent used it with Mackenzie but used it with our other 2 kids before discoverign slings. Now I use an Asian carrier for hiking and long walks.

I bought a high-end Evenflo frame backpack about 4 years ago. It worked great for the first few years, but is starting to show signs of wear. Although it's worked well for us, if I had it to do over, I'd get a Kelty backpack.

New signature, same old me: Ann- mama of 2 boys and 2 girls, partnered to a fabulous man.
I'm an unintentional weasel feeder and I suck at proofreading.

I like my Vaude Swing a lot. It's a frame backpack, very well made, although basic - not a backcountry type pack. I've also heard great things about the Tough Traveller.
