I didn't come across baby wearing until my daughter was about 3 months, and then it took me a little while to really get into it, so that may be part of the problem. She is also very active, and usually prefers to play in the floor at my feet. On a regular day at home (I only work outside the house 1 day a week) she will be in a sling or carrier, maybe an hour? Give or take, depending on her mood. If we are out it's more (she doesn't like to be messed with by strangers, and they leave her alone better in the sling. She will make faces, but doesn't like to be touched by people she doesn't know.) is that amount of time normal and ok? Should I encourage more?

Whatever she responds to is okay.  My guy could hardly be put down at that age, but I'd have sure appreciated some floor time for him!  Let your babe lead the way!
