The Babywearing board is overwhelming!

My 8 mo/old ds is now a whopping 23lbs. The Baby Bjorn is going the way of the garage sale/eBay...I am in desperate need of a back carrier.

A friend just showed me her Ergo Carrier and although it seems like it would be wonderful, I really dislike having a strap across my chest. For that matter, I dislike having anything, strap or fabric, cross over my front but know that there has to be a compromise for security.

I would love to find something with just shoulder straps (think a backpack with legholes cut into it).

Is there such a thing available?

You can do a backpack tie with the Mei Tai that works well. I use it sometimes for a backcarry, though I find if I'm wearing dd a long time I like the cross across the front better.

good luck!

You also don't have to use the chest belt with the Ergo. I've never found that I need it with that type of carrier, although body type may have something to do with it. But yes, Mai Tais and wraps can be worn "rucksack" style, with back pack like straps.
