I've got some rings and some fabric, but now I'm starting to chicken out. How wide should I leave the fabric? I would like to make it super pretty with a satiny or velvet trim but I dont know if that little bit of slip would cause a safety issue?

Any special considerations I should make with a super chub of a baby?

TIA

I'm not sure about it slipping through the rings if you did it on the end, but you could certainly trim the tail (along the bottom) with satin or velvet (I don't think velvet would slip on the edges, but it would make sewing thicker at the folds).

I use 45" wide fabric, but you can go as narrow as 36'' imo. I would not go any narrower. I also wouldn't go wider than 45". No need to do anything special for a chubby baby. You can use the same sling for a newborn that you can for a big toddler since they're fully adjustable.

Good luck!

have you checked out sleeping baby pattern

it's got great instructions and how to add an accent on the bottom of the tail.

Ok, so do you think if I cut the edge (it's 60 inches wide) I should fold and stitch it down before attaching something like a bias tape edge or will it be ok raw underneath?
