This carrier looks so painful!

Wow.

I'm speechless.

Looks exceedingly uncomfortable!! At least the model mom looks like she's trying to make eye contact with the poor baby!

And to think that people are worried about the baby falling out of a real sling!!

I've seen an ad for this before . . . crazy!

I love how it claims to be "pain free".

Holy guacamole. That thing must have been invented by a sadistic chiropractor looking to ensure a continuous stream of patients!
Marcimama's Avatar Marcimama 02:01 AM 05-19-2007
LOL! I just got that magazine yesterday. I could NOT believe how ridiculous it was and showed it to my dh! He was speechless too! What a silly invention! Just get a sling!
JaneSmith1010's Avatar JaneSmith1010 02:13 AM 05-19-2007
A man must have designed it. But I can comment no further since I complain to no end how they need to make those things easier to carry.

attaches in less than five minutes.
That is the part that just kills me! Woohoo - less than 5 minutes! Hey, it takes me less than 30 seconds to get DS in the sling. But I'd much rather spend "less than 5 minutes" in the freezing cold parking lot just to inflict severe pain on my entire body. Can you imagine the bruise one would get around the hip area from that heavy thing bumping into you with every step you take?

to the PP who suggested it was invented by a chiro who's business was slow!

I guess that's enough for know. What a poor solution when could just wear or carry the baby.
AlexisT's Avatar AlexisT 08:22 PM 05-19-2007
Forget any other pluses or minuses, that just looks PAINFUL. DD's carrier is heavy enough when I'm bringing it+baby into the house. I sure as heck wouldn't want to wear it.
bellymama's Avatar bellymama 08:47 PM 05-19-2007
i stared at this for a long time before i could even comprehend the idiotic nature of it....why...WHY are people so into their carseats....jesus almighty i ask you WHY????? i have a carseat that isn't even able to come out and i survive...i will now sit in the corner and bang my head against a wall to numb the pain of living in this world
bellymama's Avatar bellymama 09:01 PM 05-19-2007
i had to look at it again, and comment again, thats how bizarre this is to me. i got my boyfriend and we looked at it together, and i wondered outloud: why are people so intent on never taking their babies out of these things?
AlexisT's Avatar AlexisT 09:52 PM 05-19-2007
said it elsewhere, but: having the removable carseat is good for one thing: you're popping into the supermarket, DD has fallen asleep from being in the car, you pop the carrier into the cradle on the supermarket trolley and she stays asleep
Also good in restaurants if, like my DD, baby doesn't like being in the sling when I'm sitting down (it's my arms or nothing).

Still can't imagine wanting to wear the car seat, though. Travel systems weren't enough convenience for some people? (I don't do that very often, but eh, it's a nice feature.)
bellymama's Avatar bellymama 09:57 PM 05-19-2007
see, my son won't stay asleep in the carseat when i take it out. i did it one time at the doc's office an dhe woke up in seconds...plus those grocery cart things look like they could tip over. i am sure they won't, but i get weird.. i also like to have him in a sling or wrap because i feel like the grocery cart or stroller would be a easy way to steal him. again, i am weird. my son sleeps in the sling though, so that makes it easy. when he was newborn he didn't, he had to be in CONSTANT motion...i mean CONSTANT. i bounced on my birth ball A LOT that first month.

That just looks totally uncomfortable.. my main reason for hating the stupid bucket thing (aside from not getting to actually HOLD my child of course is that its too damn heavy! Why on earth would you want to lug that much more weight around?!?!?! I mean, seriously!!
lactivist's Avatar lactivist 12:26 AM 05-20-2007
My 15yo dd thought I was showing her a joke website. My dh just looked really stunned and I laughed so hard I got tears in my eyes. I completely understand taking a carseat in somewhere. It was some of the few moments of sleep my ds2 would get sometimes but I would never take it anywhere far enough where I would want something like that. I just can't imagine spending money on something like that. Wow! : Not to mention that thing looks incredibly painful.

saw that once before. i just forwarded the site to my MIL and some others. Thought they might get a laugh out of it...
RoundAbout's Avatar RoundAbout 01:01 AM 05-20-2007
My DH thought it was a joke too. My MIL who is very mainstream said "What kind of moron would wear that?"

I use my bucket when I pop into the convenience store to grab milk or a DVD. For a 5 minute stop, its perfect and that's why there is a handle on it. It's heavy though and I wouldn't want to walk more than a few feet with, let alone with that weight across my shoulder on a skinny strap.

I too wish people would try something else - I grow more in love with my BabyHawk everyday. Yesterday we were out at the Aquarium and there were at least 3 kids screaming in strollers while DS (5 mos) was happily snuggled next to me checking out the fish.

Isn't it obvious? ... Because when they (the babies) stay in the carseat 24/7 you don't EVER have to actually TOUCH them! Sorry, that was very snarky. Off my high horse.
