Hi all. I have heard alot of good things about the Moby sling but I dont know where to get one.. Do you have to order it online? Also, is it alot more comfortable than the regular slings that have fasteners? I couldnt get comfortable in the last sling I tried.. Thanks everyone for your help
Personally, I'm not a fan of wraps (too much fabric, too hot, my babes always seemed too heavy for the stretchy ones I tried); I love my Kozy mei tai though! Lots and lots of folks swear by their Moby, so it might be the one for you.
I ordered mine on line. I LOVED it! DD is almost 10 months now and crawling so she no longer wants to be in it, but it was a life saver the first 6 or so months of her life.
If you have a specialty baby store where you live you may be able to find one there.
Yep, make one! Just cut a piece of fabric 5-7 feet (depending on how big around you are) and about 25 inches wide. Here's mine. 5.5 feet long. It cost me about $5!

if you don't want to make one you can order from mom4life.com with free shipping, or ebay. i got mine off ebay. or you could buy a used one on diaperswappers.com
dd does very well in hers and I do find that it's more comfortable and feels more secure than just the ring sling we also like. But, it is really hot in our 90-degree weather with no a/c so we don't get to wear it as much. And I can't figure out breastfeeding with it on and it's kinda a pain to have to take it off to nurse - but that can just be me needing to practice more.
Once fall gets here, I look forward to wearing it more.

Me too -- I love how it looks and feels (the double shoulder styling and the stretchy material are SO comfy!), but it's pretty hot. I'm just worried that DD will be too big by then -- I've heard people say that the stretchy ones can only be used with little babies, and after that it's best to go with a woven wrap (although now that I know how cheap/easy they are to make, it won't be a problem to just make a woven one, I guess
).
Those of you with experience, up to about how many pounds would you say the stretchy wraps work? And how do you know when your baby is too big to wear that way? Does it just start to feel less secure, or need adjustment frequently?

About 12-15 pounds for us. You can use it as long as it's comfy. It won't become unsafe, it will just start to feel heavy and pull on your shoulders. So, a limited lifespan, but if you have a newborn still, a worthwhile purchase. We used ours about 8 hours a day. Now, if your baby is already 12 pounds or so, it might not be worth buying.

For newborns, I like them about 1000 times better. It's softer and cuddlier, more ergonomic for the wearer, easier to pop the baby in and out, and some people feel it's better for developing spines because you have the baby supported on his bottom rather than dangling by the crotch. There are also more carrying options you can do - facing out, in, on the hip, cradled, etc. They are also several times cheaper!

Yes, 5 feet won't be long enough to do anything with!!
I saw Mobys at Whole Foods yesterday, btw!!
And yes, definitely consider making one yourself or checking out thebabywearer.com for used ones and save some bucks.
