Other side:
"Getting ready to go back to work? Then you're probably thinking of the whys, whens, and whats of weaning."
So they suggest start skipping a nursing session and add a bottle of pumped milk or a bottle.
Shorten each nursing session by a few minutes and end with a bottle (Which I believe can lead to over-feeding, right?)
Don't give up, it will happen.
I guess I don't know whether the "weaning" advice is good but I don't think pumping ends nursing and qualifies as weaning.
Pumping definitely doesn't end nursing or qualify as weaning! I'm feeling offended and I don't even know the company! I pump 3 times a day and DD nurses way more than that. And I work full time.
What age was this geared towards? I rarely see anything that doesn't assume that babies are weaned after a year or that coming up on a year Mom is definitely planning to wean, whether from breast or bottle. Since this talks about replacing feeds with a bottle, rather than just cutting them out altogether, this seems like it's geared towards younger.
These were milestone and development cards for "my 4 month old". So they weren't talking about weaning off milk altogether at a year. Somehow Similac thinks my 10 month old is that age. I just send the coupons to a friend on FB who's wife uses them.

That one's really brushing me the wrong way.
(I hope that's the correct idiom, English is not my first language.)
Sure enough, Mom does have things to do - and has had things to do since the dawn of humankind. However, why are so many people willing to assume that almost anything is more important than tending to the needs of a young child?
They also include premade formula bottles in their breastfeeding diaper bags at the hospital (MIL's best friend is an OB nurse at a hospital and snagged me the innards of a diaper bag just a couple of weeks ago - the tag indicating it was a breastfeeding bag was also included).

I am seeing a cat being groomed the wrong way and all wild haired with that P.O.ed look in his eyes!
I don't like this either.... on your to-do list you have "go back to work" but you need helpful support, not lessons on weaning.
Thanks for the idiomatic correction.
Yes, that's my point. It's a lot easier (and so much more profitable!) to provide mom and baby with a bottle instead of supporting them in their BF relationship.
So, as not to turn this into a general vent: PP, are you planning to send an e-mail to the company in question?
wasnt it similac that just had formula recall? my husband told me about it today, formula had BUGS in it... how aweful!!!! and one of their comments supposedly was that this won't necesserily make babies sick, it will just leave a bad taste in their mouths, so they will be reluctant to try it again

"JUST"
absolutely mind boggling!!!
That really does tick me off since one of my friends uses similac and yes it can make your baby sick. Her ped said it might be up to a couple of weeks before the baby starts feeling better..
As for the cards they would upset me as well. Working moms need support to continue to breastfeed, not advice on how to stop.

Great question. I just feel, like I assume many others do, that we're just so powerless. Do you think e-mails are worth sending? Should I "return to sender" the next mailer?
Advice?
