We've had discussions here before about how there's really no substitute for Butterfingers, when we're avoiding all Nestle products.  It was my favorite candy bar, and I miss it.....

I think I may have found a substitute (organic no less!?).  It's got caramel so it wouldn't be a 100% sub, but the description sounds promising other than that (and I do like caramel anyway)..... I haven't ordered it yet - wondering if anyone here has had one and knows for sure?  http://www.naturalcandystore.com/product/elis-earth-bars-treasure-bar-caramel-crunch-peanut-butter-sjaaks-organic-candy-vegan/egg-free-candy-bars

I have a recipe for Peanut-Butter-Chocolate Rice Crispy Treats that may fulfill your butterfinger craving.

It's super easy and super-yummy:

1 cup sugar

1 cup peanut butter

1 cut corn syrup (or agave nectar)

5 cups rice crispies

1 package of semi sweet chocolate chips

In a pot mix PB, Sugar, and Corn Syrup until it comes to a boil (stir contantly).

Pour rice crispies into a large mixing bowl.  Pour PB mixture over and mix.  Spread onto a cookie sheet.

Melt the chocolate chips, spread evenly over the rice krispies.

Refrigerate for 10 minutes (or more). Cut into squares (or diamonds, or whatever).

I make these in several batches and store the little portions in the freezer - they're always a hit and are perfect after they defrost for a couple of minutes.

5th avenue bars are better than butter finger (the same inside texture, but better, well...real chocolate on the outside).  There is actually a butterfinger copycat recipe online I've made before thats yummy!

Never liked butterfingers, but what I really need is a substitute baby ruth! Sneaking dd's halloween candy awoke my appetite for them and I was guilty of buying a bag a few weeks later :X

Oh my gosh, a while ago I bought some candy from my natural food store that was almost exactly like Butterfingers!  What was it called?  Peanut butter sticks or something like that?  I will try to remember to find out for you!

Edited to add:  I think this might be them!  http://thebeatthatmyheartskipped.co.uk/index.php/2009/11/26/yum/  Unless I'm remembering the wrong candy!  I might have to buy them the next time I go to the store, so I can do a taste test!  It's so hard being a lactivist, but someone's got to do it!
