A few weeks ago we were atop a peak in the Crazy Mountains, a range near Livingston MT. After a fairly grueling hike up, I popped Eva out of the backpack and started breastfeeding at 10,000 feet. My husband snapped a picture, and we laughed envisioning that, when a little older, Eva will think she was a pretty extreme baby. On the way down trail, we started to thinking. I have B-Fed Eva in quite a few ‘unique’ places, atop Montana divides, during graduate school classes, floating the Yellowstone river, on the farm, at our wedding, hiking, while processing soil samples in the lab (thanks to Maya wrap). Many of these moments, have been documented on a digital camera. Some photos are funny, others touching. I thought how fun it could be to start a website where moms posted photos of themselves breastfeeding in all sorts of interesting places, in their everyday lives, or traveling. As we all know, the US needs to come a long way before breastfeeding is really socially acceptable (I still get the occasional scornful look at a restaurant). Maybe it would encourage moms to get out and enjoy life instead of scheduling all the details. Eva feeds and sleeps whenever she likes, and my husband get to enjoy all sorts of outdoor recreation without time-limits.

Does anyone have any further thoughts or ideas? Names for the site? Interesting breastfeeding pictures of their own? I’d love to expand the site further, and have heaps of ideas… but I’d like to hear yours. Feel free to e-mail at airizard@msn.com or post a reply on this forum.
Thanks to all who read this, Erica.

I think that's a great idea! I don't have any pictures of my dd nursing anywhere, especially somewhere exciting and fun! DD will be one next week, maybe in her second year we will snap some pictures.

I think it's a great idea! DS and I are also "xtreme" . I've nursed him in the sling while snowshoeing, while hiking up peaks and most recently at a "naturalist" hotsprings.

Here's a pic (not of the naturalist hotsprings though! :P) right after he unlatched.

I think that's a great idea! I have a few scenic nursing shots that I love. My most recent is DD nursing at Mt Rainier when she was 6 days old.

Here is DS nursing at Lake Yellowstone when he was one year old and nursing at Crater Lake when he was 20 months and I was 7 months pregnant.

thanks for the support gals! I'm just getting started on this forum. Can anyone give me a quick explanation as to how to attach photos as you all have?

Cheers!

Sounds like a great idea, I'd love to contribute...gotta nurse at more (interesting) places first.

Yes vote!

I think it would be great to let moms know that breastfeeding doesn't tie you down to the house like so many believe.

I have a shot of us nursing in a ghost town in the high Sierras... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ingatBodie.jpg

we nursed on a tractor in Home Depot too but didn't get pics that time...

neither of my boys have kept me home... they got to go everywhere we went.
