I just can NOT keep this topic out of my mind. I am checking up on it every few minutes.

Some are talking about which possible country is more offended at public breastfeeding than the US? None that I can think of. I can't believe she thinks that that argument works. multicultural residents? Hum, she is just reaching for anything isn't she. You know...even in places where a woman is not alloweed to show her face she can breastfeed openly. At least this is what I figure by what I see when I am out and about. There was a lady covered head to toe with only her eyes showing and a little bit of breast. Yep, she openly nursed her baby without a blanket. She was sitting on a comfie bench next to a bathroom. She wasn;t hidding in the bathroom!

multicultural residents. I still can not get past that.

Oh and the smoking...I won't even go there.

You're not the only one. at the other thread I posted this link I found which lists fax number, phone and mail address but no email. I don't know why.

I really translated the "multicultural" comment differently. I didn't get the feeling she was protecting the residents who were not from the US. I got the impression she was protecting the predominantly bottle-feeding US residents from the other cultures that are more open and level-headed about breastfeeding. Which is sort of ethnocentric when you think about it.

To the OP - My heart goes out to you and your family. Nursing a sick child shouldn't bring about such harrassment. I hope today's meeting goes well and that they offer a full apology. In the meantime, I'll be sending out my e-mails.

Wow, I can't believe how the situation has progressed. I thought for sure one of the "higher-ups" would come along and do what's right. I'm so disappointed. Off to write more emails...

I would like to know as well. It seems that the only people that have ever had a problem with women BFing in public, are those that have never BF'd their children.

That rings pretty true. Sure there are many people who didn't bf and still are supportive of it. However you are pretty unlikely to find a mother who did breast feed who is wigged out by others doing it.

OK, I'm obsessing a little here I admit. I can't believe the multicutural BS.

Which culture is it that babies don't need breastmilk? Stop treating breastfeeding like it's some sort of weird cultural phenomenon. IT'S A BIOLOGICAL NEED.

Just waiting for the word on a nurse out (in?). My car is pointed toward the med center.

I was hoping this would be resolved, by a huge apology to the family and the welcoming of all bf'ing mothers at this RMH. I am livid!

You are in my thoughts as you go into the meeting.

If this all goes wrong and these women are asked to leave the RMH, what are we willing to do to financially help these women. They will only have a place to stay for a week. If the baby needs care longer then that then they will need to come up with funding for it.

If they need to leave can we get together and help them?

I posted in the other thread, but I know the husband is military, if he's air force, the air force aid society or another military group might be able to help as well.
