Today I took my two littlest to the donut shop while the oldest two were at swim team practice. I had the baby in the sling, and an older Grandma-type lady was behind me and asked about the sling. I said it was a Maya Wrap and you could get in online She said that she and her husband were stationed abroad when she had her kids and a nice lady made her a baby carrier for her twins. That impressed me enough, but then she said "Oh, I loved it. I could nurse them anywhere and no one ever cared!" I said, "Wow, you nursed twins?" And she said "Yes. It was pretty rare back then too. They didn't encourage it. But it was the nicest thing I've ever done."

Aww, that sounds like my MIL. She didn't have twins but I'm pretty sure she would have nursed them. And she had a what her and FIL refer to as a courderoy (sp?) version of snugli that she found in the "hippy district" in CA. MIL is cool

Rachel, mom to Jake (5/04) and Alexia (7/07) a surprise UC thanks to hypnobabies!

MIL still has hers. Its a vintage cottage industry snugli that was like a mei-tai with and inside holder for when baby was littler...not great on the back, but I got one off TBW because it was so cool looking.

OP, awwww

so sweet. i love those sweet conversations with the older generations. my slings and carrier are almost always the impetus for such interactions too.
