I was going to post this in the "May Mamas" thread, but it got long so I didn't want to clog things up over there! So here is the YAY!
It seems as if the waiting is over!
This was last night: Spicy curry from our local Thai restaurant, made MORE spicy with cayenne pepper added by me , an "ahem"...bit of fun with DH , and then...I took two tbsp of castor oil in orange juice. Y'know, maybe it was because I didn't take the WHOLE BOTTLE like some people I have heard of, I didn't even take 2 oz! But it WASN'T as horribly nasty as I thought it was going to be! It left a film in my mouth which I didn't care for, but it washed out easily with more juice, and some crackers & peanut butter.
And then when the pooping started (sorry, TMI!) it again, wasn't as bad as the lactose-intolerance attacks I used to get! The cramps were bearable and well, the poops stopped by about midnight (I took the CO at about 8pm).
Anyway. Then I took a bath. Then I went online for a while, and a THUNDERSTORM started! It rocked. It was like, all the powers were lining up for me. I sat at my altar in a semi-squat, telling my baby that I would wait for him, whenever he was ready, and I hope he didn't mind the castor oil nudge (that didn't look like it was working anyway), and sending out a silent prayer to the storm to get things going for me. Then I crawled into bed with DH, and felt some contrax, nothing to write home about because well, I went to sleep and slept through most of the night.
When I woke up this morning, DH said "I'm going to work today, aren't I?" :LOL And I sent him off at about 7:20 this morning, telling him I would call him after my OB appt today (when I was going to bet my membranes stripped-something I wasn't looking forward to).
Then I went back to bed, set the alarm for 9, and turned over. It was 7:30ish.
And felt/heard an audible *pop*!!! I reached down, and felt..and OH MY GOODNESS, the stuff that was comin' out of me!! : I rolled out of bed, trying to avoid mussing the sheets, and rant to the bathroom, and sure enough, WOW, my water broke!! Looked yellow on the TP, but was totoally clear everywhere else. What a mess.
So, here I am, waiting, with some mild contractions, making tea, getting last-minute things ready. I got to shower and the OB who is taking my vactioning OB's patients told me to go ahead and chill at home until about noon, and then she wants me to call her.
I FINALLY got a hold of DH, so he is on his way.
Wish me luck ladies! This is IT!!!

That's so awesome, Renae! Sounds like you're making real progress!!!

I do have one bit of info/advice for you, though. And I only say this becuase I have read several times that you are against the use of pitocin (frankly, so am I!). I have two grilfriends whose water broke but they were not having contraxtions. They went to the hospital and the talk *immediately* turned to pit (and antibiotics ). I'm a little unclear if you are still having contractions this morning, but if you aren't having any, you might want to stall out on going to the hosptial until you feel like things are happening again. Otherwise, they may try to push the pit and even though I know you can refuse, you might want to avoid having to deal with that. And be sure not to insert anything vaginally - this includes any doctor's or nurse's fingers! Any internal exams at this point could potentially be "reason" to induce.

I really, really don't mean to come off a preachy... I'm actually SUPER excited for you and I guess I'm also just trying to review MY game plan (labor at home as long as possible, avoid interventions and induction, NO PITOCIN!). Hearing that things are progressing for you is very encouraging for me... you and I have been playing the same waiting game.

<<<Healthy Natural Labor Vibes>>>> comin' at ya!!!
