''Sunday was a day of rest now it's one more day for progress, and we can't slow down.... la la la "

I love that song!

Quietly he laughs and shaking his head
Creeps closer now
Closer to the foot of the bed
And softer than shadow and quicker than flies
His arms are all around me and his tongue in my eyes
"Be still be calm be quiet now my precious boy
Don't struggle like that or I will only love you more
For it's much too late to get away or turn on the light
The spiderman is having you for dinner tonight"

(Lullaby by the cure)

My toddlers' "naked dance" song

"La la la!
Bum bum bum!
Nakey nakey nakey!"

Repeat over and over again, waving your arms in the air.

I want a girl who stays up late
I want a girl with uninterrupted prosperity
Who used a machedy to cut through red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tinted glass

She is fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She's touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnnng.... lonnng jacket''

OK, my DD's favorite song (from an old piano recital of mine)

Tuna fish, tuna fish
croon the tune of tuna fish
tuna fish, tuna fish
it's my favorite dish...
everybody loves it so,
from new york to kokomo,
tuna fish,
tuna fish
its my favorite dishhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

whew, hear that all the time.
and, occasionally altered by my ds to:

potty train,
potty train,
croon the tune of potty train,....

seems like anything having to do w/ bodily functions is found vastly amusing by the 6 year old set!!

and, I am dating my self, but this song goes through my head ALLL the time:

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance

We can go when we want to
The night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet
And surprise 'em with the victory cry
Say, we can act if want to
If we don't nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile

I say, we can dance, we can dance
Everything out of control
We can dance, we can dance
We're doing it from wall to wall
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody takin' the cha-a-a-ance

Safety dance
Is it safe to dance
Is it safe to dance

S-s-s-s A-a-a-a F-f-f-f E-e-e-e T-t-t-t Y-y-y-y
Safe, dance!

We can dance if we want to
We've got all your life and mine
As long as we abuse it, never gonna lose it
Everything'll work out right
I say, we can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine

OK, maybe this is saying a lot about what goes on in my head, mainly the lack of coherent though!! this one goes on all the time too:

I am I am I am Superman
And I know what’s happening
I am I am I am Superman
And I can do anything

You don’t really love that guy
You make it with now do you
I know you don’t love that guy
'Cause I can see right through you

If you go a million miles away
I'll track you down girl
Trust me when I say I know
The pathway to your heart

In our lifetime those who kill
The newsworld hands them stardom
And these are the ways
On which I was raised
These are the ways
On which I was raised

I never wanted to kill
I AM NOT NATURALLY EVIL
Such things I do
Just to make myself
More attractive to you
HAVE I FAILED ?

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....they fell in love

(Copa Copacabana)

His name was Rico, he wore a diamond
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancin' there
And when she finished, he called her over
But Rico went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who?

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....she lost her love

(Copa. . Copacabana)
(Copa Copacabana) (Copacabana, ahh ahh ahh ahh)
(Ahh ahh ahh ahh Copa Copacabana)
(Talking Havana have a banana)
(Music and passion...always the fash--shun)

Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show
Now it's a disco, but not for Lola
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony
Now she's lost her mind!

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....don't fall in love

(Copa) don't fall in love
Copacabana
Copacabana

I looked up the story behind the I don't like Monday's song. it's about a girl who went to school one day and shot at the students and teachers, just because it was monday and she was bored and felt like it. How crazy!

Here's a link about the Boomtown Rats song "I Don't Like Mondays"

http://www.80smusiclyrics.com/artists/boomtownrats.htm

edited to add: I like the song, but the story behind it is very sad.

P.S. CTMOMOF2, this is not the "Manic Monday" song which I believe is by the Bangles?

Last verse - Promised Land by Chuck Berry (later by GD):

Swing low chariot, come down easy,
taxi to the terminial zone.
Cut your engines, and cool your wings
and let me make it to the telephone.
Los Angeles give me Norfolk, Virginia -
Tidewater-4-10-0-9.
Tell the folks back home this is the promised land calling
and the poor boy's on the line.

I'm not all that religious, but my son is in nursery school and daily when he gets home we sing what he sang in school... this one's been on my mind for weeks, can't shake it, and i feel badly trying to!!

Jesus loves me, this i know, cuz the Bible tells me so
Little ones to he belongs, they are weak, but he is strong
Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so!
