Anyone else getting a gift from one sibling to another?

My daughter asked to buy the baby a teddy bear, so we'll shop for that soon and she can bring it to the hospital when she visits. She's also been drooling over a doll in a catalog, so I ordered one and will surprise her with it when she comes to meet the baby! I know a lot of people do this ... anyone else here planning to?

Hello - we're doing older to younger, but since the baby is due about one month post Chanukah/X-mas, I'm not doing anything in the reverse. Dd is now 6.5 yo, and she understands about other people getting to have a birthday, too. I think for younger kids it might be worthwhile to include them more. We purchased a copy of dd's 2 favorite bedtime books (I love you forever by Munsch and It's Time for Sleep by Mem Fox), which dd chose and wrapped. Good luck, and happy birthing days!

Mama to B and O , wife to J and me to me! :

Hi, hope you don't mind me popping in from the December board! So many are having their babies over there that it's getting kind of "slow". Since I am due the 30th, I may be joining you ladies soon anyway!

We had to borrow a baby doll from a friend for my son's "Sibling Preparation Class" and he was really into it. So the baby bought him a baby boy doll that cries, etc. and it came with a bunch of accessories. We wrapped it in Christmas paper but it's hidden under our bed, and we will take it to the hospital with us for him to get when he gets there to visit. I know he will love it because he saw it at Target, and I think it will really help for him to have his very own baby to carry around.

Babytime, if she's into bears you should read her "When the Teddy Bears came" (unless you already have). It's a book about a new baby and everyone brings a bear for the baby.

DD is getting a homemade doll sling from the new baby, but not at Xmas.

I was going to do this too. DD loves to "be like mommy" and I figure that's where the new baby will be hangin out most of the time...
