I have done the Master Cleanse about three times..
I am considering doing it again right after thanksgiving OR doing a raw food cleanse- basically salads and fruit and nuts for a week.... no added anything

I've been able to do complete the Master Cleanse several times. I usually do it every Spring. I've done it once in the Fall.

Is the master cleanse the cayenne and lemon juice, etc.?

I'm not sure about that one, but am considering it. I my do the raw food idea. I was about 90% raw for a whole summer.

love2all: If you do it after Thanksgiving, maybe we could form thread here about it.

Yes that is the master cleanse-
I cannot decide if I want to do it or not...l I tend to get a bit tired and I do not want to skip my workouts- which in the past I did have to give up. I will let you know what I decide and I would love to have someone else going thry it too...

I honestly would prefer to not miss workouts too. Perhaps the raw food week would work better for me.

IMHO this would be a WAY healthier approach!!

In case anyone else does this, I have some awesome salad dressing recipes that are raw and delicious!

Pineapple dressing:

Fresh pineapple (canned works in a pinch)
squeeze of lime or lemon
dash of cayenne
salt and pepper to taste
oil

Blend everything together, drizzling the oil in until it reaches desired consistancy.

Ambrosia dressing (This tastes so much like that marshmallow salad)

Coconut milk
shredded unsweetened coconut
pineapple
a little bit of virgin coconut oil (optional)

Blend together. Mmmmmm... so good.

Most of my salads have fruit and nuts in them (maybe I am weird) but I find them so refreshing and satisfying that I do not even crave dessert.

I am not crunchy enough for this forum. Everyday I get a little crunchier though! :

Yum! Those recipes sound great. Should we start Friday? All raw fruits and veggies?

I think I am going to start this in a few days. We will be camping for three weeks so it's a great time to go raw. I think I'll enjoy the electricity for the weekend.

I agree. The "master cleanse" is just starving yourself, and add on top of that a workout? Holy smokes that would send me to the hospital! If you are ever going to fast, you need to do it when you don't have to overly active.

I have to agree. There is a reason that true traditional (think religious) fasting is paired with deep meditation and prayer. Not a marathon!

The MC is not that bad.
I certainly wouldn't train for a marathon while doing it.
I do yoga and walk and continue biking to get around town when I do my 10 days. Nothing strenuous. If training is a priority, you need to eat well.

Hi chiromama, I am in Boulder right now too. We are leaving on Thurs though. We've been here a month and a half. We hope to relocate here though.

I am going to start the fresh, raw fruits and veggies on Thurs. Anyone else?

that said right now is not the time because training is a priority

Awesome love2all. How are you feeling. I am going to start tomorrow. I mostly eat fruits and veggies anyway, but I will be more careful starting tomorrow. I may do the MC if I reach a point that I am too busy to run. We will be at BIL over Christmas, which may be a good time. Then I'll look nuttier than I already do though... everyone else is gorging on Christmas food and I am cleansing. I have also wanted to just fast as Fuhrman advocates.

I did a couple of cleanses last spring that I liked...

I started with this 3-day green smoothie cleanse . She has a lot of the info on her blog, but she also created a downloadable PDF guide (I think it was around $10, and well worth the cost):

After that I did Kris Carr's month-long "ACT" (Adventure Cleanse Tune-up):
(that's the first post I think, but she blogged about it all month long so you can search the site for the other posts, plus there was a support forum in the forums section of the website). She also recommended a lot of other cleansing practices in addition to the food part (dry brushing, rebounding & other exercise, sauna-ing, colonics).

Kris & her website are a wealth of info.
