Hi, I'm starting Chalean Extreme on Monday. I just finished the 30 Day Shred today, I'm using the weekend as rest, and then starting Chalean Extreme Monday. I'm excited also, I think when I am might do P90X after Chalean if I can afford it, and if I'm not wanting to do round two of the 30 Day Shred or Chalean Extreme. I think I get bored pretty fast, so these workouts are great for me. You get to change it up, and there is a goal in sight!

I'll be doing the fit test this weekend so I have my starting info, and I have a before set of picks from my final 30 day shred pics, and same for measurements.

I'm debating going out and buying some new weights today. I think I need heavier, but I'm just not sure how heavy!

I started it last week, did the first two days and was so sore after plyo, i took the rest of the week off. I don't think i'm quite ready for it full time, so i'm going to do a few of the dvd's in rotation with my others. I really like Kempo and Cardio, but i think the plyo was just too much jumping. My lower half has never been so sore

I'd love to hear what you think of the other dvd's, the strength ones. I'm thinking i'll do one upper body, one lower body a week at first. Hopefully by summer i'll be able to do the program how its meant to be done.

I just finished my first week of P90X and am excited to start week 2.

I modified the Plyo so I wasn't jumping as intensely, just a little. Also, by the end, I was barely coming off the floor b/c my legs were burning.

I really like the weight days, even if I can't eek out 1 pull up and have to do push ups on my knees or against the wall But I've always enjoyed lifting weights.

ETA~ I started Kenpo last night and made it about 30min in, but my 14mo wasn't asleep yet and chose that point to be ready for bed

I'm doing Stretch X later today.

I made it through the first workout (chest & back), and while I could not come close to keeping up and did my pushups on my knees, I did my best and know I will improve (although I anticipate being extremely sore!).

Good Luck! I am in week 6 and my body has already changed so much. I am losing my belly that I never thought I would be able to lose. And I feel so strong!! You guys are gonna love it if you stick with it!!

I am not in very good shape right now and hope to lose a ton of weight, too.

Chalean Extreme is pretty awesome so far. I have been adding a little cardio before I do it though because it seriously needs it. I do mean just a little though, I've been doing the cardio from level one 30 Day Shred, and abs as well right before the regular Chalean workouts, but the one cardio interval workout I have done so far that is part of Chalean Extreme was great!

This seems like a really good weight lifting for beginners (and more experienced) but at an intense level. I'm going to do a round of Insanity after, just to get the cardio up there, and then maybe P90X. I guess I'm turning into a beach body fan. What I love is the accountability because of the length of these programs, if it says 90 days and do this in the 90 days, I'm just more likely to stick with it.

Three Little Birds - I just finished my first week and although it is really tough, I love it, and I hope you do too! I found that I use 10 lb. weights for most exercises and 5 lb. for most tricep stuff. I could probably do 8 lbs., but don't have a pair that size, so I have to work with what I have. In just a week I can already tell a difference in my body. I am strictly following the nutrition plan other than black coffee in the a.m. and a occasional glass of wine. I am down 3 lbs. from my start weight.

I wanted to add that I completely agree with GearGirl - having a set time frame with an end insight is key to my motivation for sure! I am hoping to move on to Insanity after completing P90X...

Just wanted to say, this is an awesome work out. I did it over the summer and lost 38 lbs and toned up the best i've ever been in my life. It's HARD, but so worth it. My favorites were the Kenpo and the Yoga! Next i want to try Insanity after i give birth!

I used 5 lb weights and I knew it wasn't heavy enough, but it still was efficient enough to cut my muscles. I also didn't follow the diet to a T. I just cut out soda's and high calorie drinks, and replaced fresh fruits and veggies for snacks. As well as had lots of protein. I was amazed at the results. Keep this up! Totally worth the yelling at the TV screen lol!

I started on Monday with the fit test (um - that was humbling - a picture is worth 1000 words!) and have done two days of workouts so far. I am doing the Lean version, but mistakenly started out by doing the chest/back workout on day 1. So, I did the proper first day workout (synergystic core) today, on day two.
I am mostly following the diet, but have made a few modifications. I still have coffee (x2!) in the morning (because I am not willing to let that go just yet) and have rearranged some of the menu items, as needed (i.e., didn't have time to make the shrimp stir-fry for lunch, so I had the arugula salad instead, etc)
I must say though, I love these workouts. I was a bit intimidated before I started, but I feel great about it now. I was unable to keep up at all, but I was working MY hardest and I felt awesome afterwards. There's nowhere to go but up, baby! I haven't sweat like that in a long time. I am sore now, but not as sore as I expected to be. The first workout I was able to do it in the AM before anyone else was up and it worked great. Today though, I was unable to do it and so I had to do it with my kids around. I had to do it in two parts as my toddler was all over me; sitting on me when I was trying to do push ups (like I needed an extra 25lbs lol), crawling under me when I was standing up; and going on top of me and trying to nurse when I was lying down. Eek - it was super challenging. She decided last week that she is no longer napping (at 18mos, really???) so I have to figure something out. But I WILL DO IT EVERYDAY, don't get me wrong.

I think that a huge appeal of the program though, is its appeal to all levels. Honestly, if the workout wasn't that challenging, I don't think that we'd be that excited about it. It is motivating to think about the improvements that we are going to make. But, it isn't so crazy though that I feel like it is 'beyond' my ability. I can't keep up, but it changes the exercises so often that I can keep going. Did I already mention that I love it?!?!

lol! That's amazing that you had such great results! Way to go!

Just curious - are you guys hoping to lose a lot of weight, or just tone up?

She broke her finger in a basketball game for a work thing. She is unable to grasp anything or do any kind of push up for 6 weeks.

I am not doing p90x for weight loss, although I am losing weight. I am just looking to tone up a lot and gain strength and stamina. Just FYI, I am doing the classic program.

I'll be doing Insanity after Chalean Extreme, I already have it! So far so good as I go through week two. I'm doing 30 Day Shred and then Chalean Extreme right after except Thursdays when I'm just doing Chalean Extreme because of the particular workout that day. I'm really liking the combination of both.

Day 4: I think that I am already seeing results, and I definitely feel stronger. It's great!
I also love that the show how much time remains for each exercise, and the rest of the DVD - it keeps me going!

I'm finishing up week 3 of P90X. I'm down about 6lbs since I started, but I think some of that has been diet change.

I feel better, but I'm not seeing changes yet. DH says I look "tighter", but I'm not seeing it.

I do feel stronger. I'm able to move from wall pushps to knee pushups. I still can't do a pullup, so I use the chair, but there's 10 more weeks left to attempt pullups.

I'm not following the nutrition guide. I eat more Primal. I've been successful keeping my carbs under 150g/ day, but try to target under 100g. I also eat about 50-60% of my calories from good fat sources. I think I'll continue this through the whole program.

We're going on vacation with my extended family in August to a beach resort. My goal is to feel completely comfortable in a bathing suit. I've always been the heavier one in my family, my sister has a great body and both my brothers married trim women. I was always self conscious around them, especially during the summer when they naturally wore less clothing. Granted, I've had 4 children in 5yrs, and only 1 of my SILs has had a child. But still, feeling comfortable in my summer clothing and a bathing suit would be the icing on the cake to being healthy, fit, and strong.

I'm already planning to do a 2nd round of P90X after I complete the 1st one. I let my mom know I'll be bringing my weights and pullup bar on vacation

Feeling comfortable in a bathing suit is my goal as well. My sister is tiny, she weighs about 105 pounds and has always looked good. My mom is also really fit. It totally sucks to be the "fat" one, especially when I don't see myself as that, but I think that is my reality and I need to face it. This summer I'm going to look good in a bathing suit. I'm done being out of shape and over weight. I also live in CA where everyone is in shape, so my overweight situation seems even more glaring to me.

I think I've finally accepted that for me it really means both diet AND exercise. I can diet sometimes and look decent in my clothes, but I'm not in great shape. I can also go through workout programs (I did some triathlons a while back) and I can feel in decent shape, but still have too much flab. I have yet to be able to combine the two. I am good on the workout right now, but I am having to slowly deal with eating too many calories, although pretty healthy ones.

The workout scheduled changes along with the nutrition plan every 30 days. For some reason, I'm hesitant to start. I think I'm a bit intimidated. I'm waiting for something internal to shift so that I can get moving with it. I want to look (or at least feel like I look) great by summertime. No more "camouflage those trouble spots" bathing suits!

I can completely relate. I was very intimidated before I started it too. I spent a 'longer-than-necessary' amount of time getting organized, reading the books, etc. Once I finally jumped in, I was psychologically ready. It turns out that it isn't as scary as I thought that it would be. It is very accessible, for all levels of fitness. There is so much variety so if you can't continue with one exercise, it changes to a new one before you know it.

I just finished the first week and I'm loving it! I have started doing some of the workouts for a second time and am noticing an improvement already. It's motivating!

I ordered the p90x and some accessories last week, and they arrived a couple of days ago.....but we won't be starting until after this weekend. We need to spend the next few days putting our basement back together from the flooding (our exercise room is down there).

Dunno if any of you have been following the weather in Rhode Island, but it's been pretty horrific. I'm lucky enough to live on a hill, so our water damage was minimal, relatively speaking. Our basement is finished and has three rooms, plus the furnace room and a bathroom. DS1's bedroom is down there, along with a game room and a workout room. Everything is a mess right now, but at least it's dry today and no more water is leaking in.

But yeah...I'm excited about getting started, and a bit apprehensive at the same time.

I felt the same way too before I started, but after a few days, I was so excited, because I realized, hey, I can do this! The program is definitely intimidating, but all it asks of you is that you do the very best that you can every time. I start phase 2 after a recovery week next week, and I am nervous about the new routines on the schedule. I am looking forward to getting some carbs back into my diet though!

Thanks! I need to face the diet issue, I just can't (won't) get a handle on it. I know it is the key, but hearing right out like that helps.

Don't be intimidated by P90X, the thing is it really can be modified as you get better, I just added insanity in to my schedule and the way people talk about it I felt like I had to be an olympic athlete to even start. Yes, it is hard, and I'm not ready for all of it, but I am still doing a great workout for me!

How is everyone doing with their workouts this week?

I had Core Synergistics to do yesterday since I am on my first recovery week. It was my first time doing that one, and it was tough! The word "recovery" is quite misleading! I have noticed that my appetite is starting to really pick up as I am able to complete the workouts better, but I just get so tired of putting food in my face constantly, ya know?

I'm finding week 2 of Insanity to be a little harder than week one, just because now as I start the different tapes I know how hard they are going to be! I'm still psyched when I've done them though, it feels amazing. I'm still adding in three lifting days from Chalean Extreme as well, I like those workouts but I'm not sure I'm getting results.

I just finished the second week. I am feeling a lot stronger. I find it difficult to get the 1hr1/2 workouts in, but I am just making exercising my priority.
I am having a hard time eating enough food. I am sometimes skipping meals and snacks, then find myself starving, and craving the wrong things, of course. I have mostly stayed strong, tho, and forced that protein in.
I am still seeing results though. I have lost 8 pounds in two weeks. I haven't measured myself again yet but I am sure that I have lost something inch-wise. Most importantly, I feel more energetic!
And...maybe it's a coincidence, but probably not - my 19 m.o.is sleeping WAAY better at night....

I started P90X today!

Okay, it was not smooth sailing. I did not have a chance to preview Chest and Back. I knew it required the chin-up bar and would involve push-ups. I don't have a chin-up bar though and honestly, I can do about 8 modified push-ups at a time. So I was a bit discouraged because I did not prepare mentally or logistically for that level of not being able to keep up. I don't know . . . I thought there'd be more modification I guess for the person (like me) who can't do one chin-up.

So I chickened out and did Plyometrics. Which was, to me, not even quite as intense as Jillian Michael's Boost Metabolism routine. And I knew I could get through it because I'm in excellent shape cardiovascular wise which is why I did that today--to at least get into it. I'm not sure where to go from here though. I'm going to try to get an over-the-door chin-up bar today--I need something that will fit my old house's wide crown moldings. I was just going to get one that you drill in but I don't want any more holes in the house. I found this one which is pricey but at least I can call and ask questions.

I got my chin-up bar from Sports authority for under $40 and it works fine. I do almost all of mine with chair support, so don't get discouraged, it will get better! I started out doing a few push-ups on my knees and now can do over ten standard push-ups just 4 weeks later. I am starting phase 2 today and can't wait to see my 60 day results. I have seen an amazing difference in just the first 30. I think sticking to the diet is essential for maximum results.
