hi everyone.  i'm brand new to the world of kettlebells and i'd like to follow a DVD so that i can see what proper form looks like, and follow a workout.

 

does anyone have a great, beginner, kettlebell workout DVD recommendation?  thanks!

i did buy 2, but they haven't arrived yet.. both Bob Harper ones.. they got good reviews on amazon, so i'm hoping they are good.  

 

until then, i found a few short videos on youtube to help me learn some of the basic moves, and i've been practicing those, only 10 mins, every other day.

 

i'm still very open to recommendations if anyone has some!!!

Jillian Michaels has a new kettleball dvd that i've heard is good.

I don't have any video recs, but I did want to say be careful and take it slow.  I use the kettleball a lot but I work with a trainer and really think that if I had tried some of the exercises without her guidance I could have really hurt myself.  I think sometimes you need a higher weight than you think you do to accomplish the exercise with proper form.  They are great, I just think they have a learning curve.

Thanks!  i had just talked to DH about possibly having a few sessions with a personal trainer, because i want to learn proper form and not hurt myself :)  right now, i have a 10lb kettlebell, and hope to work my way up to heavier ones, after i learn how to do them right!!

We have the Lauren Brooks kettlebell DVD and I like it a lot.  There is a 10 minute workout and a 40 minute workout.  She is really good about giving instruction about the proper way to do each move.  We also have the Jillian Michaels one and I think it is really good as well.  She doesn't give as much explanation for some of the harder moves though, so it took me a few times before I was sure of what I was doing.  Once I got the hang of it though, I really liked it.

okay, i got my 2 kettlebell dvd's... bob harper's kettlebell body sculpt, and kettlebell cardio shred.  i did the body sculpt this morning, and it kicked my butt.  i'm not strong enough yet to do some of the non-KB push-up moves (mountain scalers), but i did everything else.  i think it was really great, he explained everything (esp. form) well, and i felt like i was doing the moves correctly.  and i definitely feel it now, lol.  i plan on doing KB's 3 times a week.. i'll do body sculpt a few more times before doing the cardio shred one.

I've been wanting to try kettleballs, but i have no idea what weight to buy. I don't want to get one too light or too heavy since they are quite expensive. Any idea on how to pick the right one?

i got a 10 lb one, and it's a nice weight to start with, i think.  as i get stronger, i plan to move up to a 15, then 20 lb kettlebell.  they are expensive, but i think the 10 lb one wasn't so bad.. maybe $20.   you could try looking for some used ones!  i plan on selling my 10 lb one after i move up.
