Thanks everyone...I'm wondering if it's a misreading on the scale - It flucuates so much that I have to get on it three or four times before it'll settle on a weight.

SoSurreal: We just got through the 2nd anniversary of losing my dad to Parkinsons. It's still so hard, esp. on my mom. He died two weeks before their 30th anniversay. He had even made a card for her at the nursing home. She keeps it next to her bed. It's hard losing someone that you love so much. The last time I saw and talked to him, I was telling him I was pregnant with DD. He was the only one to know what names we had picked out before she was born. We ended up naming DS after my dad. I'm sad that my kids won't know what an amazing man he was but I have to think that he will live on in the stories I'll tell them about their Grampy's awful backwards driving skills, and how he was nicknamed Crash Bob. I hope that you have wonderful memories to share with your kids...

It's sunny and muddy out so we may go out and splash in some puddles this afternoon!! Enjoy the day, everyone!

hug2.gifsad to know I'm not alone with this. My mom died when I was 15 (I'm 23 now) it was very sudden and she was only 43 y/o. I was the one who found her and it still haunts me. When we still lived at our old apartment I used to always think she would just come walking through the door one day...

First I fought off the pain with drugs, then with food, then with alcohol, then back to food. Now we have DD so obvs I won't be drinking or doing drugs! This week I have been dying for a cig though!

I have been eating cookies...hide.gif

so not exactly weight related, but i'm having a pretty bad day.  the kids are bickering, i'm trying to potty train my 3 1/4 yr old, and it's NOT working.  i also do home daycare, and today i sent an email to two of my families that i won't be having them anymore, come fall.  it doesn't have anything to do with the kids/families, it's more about me feeling completely overwhelmed/over extended these days, and wanting to simplify my life a bit.  i'll have 3 daycare kids this fall instead of 5, and over the next two years (when my youngest goes to jk/sk), and then i plan on stopping daycare altogether and doing some other sort of work.

anyways, bad day, the kind that makes me want to run out the corner store, buy a bunch of junk and eat it all at once.  but, i won't.. i'm venting here instead.  thanks everyone.

Maybe there's something to be said for the HCG diet. I haven't really felt like eating much at all the past couple of days. I crave things but after a couple of bites, I'm satisfied.

I skipped my Monday AM weigh in because late on Sunday night i sent DH to the store for a few missed grocery items and he came home with cookies....so i did eat most of them...then skimped all day Monday and this AM - i was 256 - which is down 3 lbs since the beginning of March!

Thanks to whomever started the "mini goals"  - its helping keep me motivated  - i want to loose 10 lbs a month - so far, i have done it.  It also leaves me a little 'wiggle' room ...for those cookie emergencies

Still running. 2 days down, 1 to go for this week. I plan to bike today and tomorrow and do my final weekly run on Friday. The weather is getting so much better. My runs outdoors have been slow, but I've been getting in the full 51 minutes of jogging and 12 minutes of walking (10 of which are warm-up and cool-down). I live in a really hilly area and with the new pregnancy, I'm happy just to shuffle until I get through this first trimester.

I think continuing to lose 1-2 pounds a week for this first trimester should be safe. I'm not beating myself up over my weight and my biggest concern is keeping this baby in me, but I'm not going to sit around and gain back everything I've worked so hard to lose. I just made room for this little one and I think he/she/they need a little more room. smile.gif

Motivated Mama - keep those wonderful thoughts with you!  - My last pregnancy was a surprise and i was not at optimum weight when i got pregnant - then wound up gaining about 50 lbs during the pregnancy.  Now i have a LO who is learning to crawl and i still cant really get down onto the floor and play with him  - lots of things you dont think of when there is weight gain!  Were routing for you and congrats!

So.... today I went to the DMV to renew my driver's license.  It was sooooo nice to say my weight (and think to myself- that's 20 lbs lighter than I was in January!!!)!

That made my day today.

I had my first WI tonight at WW.  I was really nervous so the leader stood with me while I was weighing in, she wanted to be there to help if I got bad news.  Well, I lost 3.8!!

My husband, who has soooo much less to lose than I do, was a total rockstar and lost 8lbs. :)

*hug*  I'm glad you were able to resist temptation.  I haven't done so well in doing that.  The good thing is that I'm not gaining weight but I haven't lost any.  I need to kick myself in the butt this week.  I WILL get to the gym this week. My problem is that I LOVE food.  All kinds of food!  Healthy food, junk food, comfort food, just all food.  This week I will practice saying no when people ask me to try something.

Way to go Attila!

I have a 2lb weight loss so far with ww, but I think Tuesday will be my one week date.  I've been sick, but feeling better. I have an appitite again, so I'm watching out.  It does feel good to see the scale going down instead of up.

Ugh.   Long, long week of family illness here.  I think we are almost done with it and hope to be back soon.  I need one or two more days to get my energy back though.  Tomorrow is supposed to be weigh in and I am skipping it.  If I have lost weight, it is only because I am dehydrated and weak.

So, one more to day to heal and then back on track tomorrow.

Well

starting weight- 238 (9/09)
current weight- 195.7
goal weight- 130 (10/11)

Almost 6lb gain in a week?! OUCH

I did my hypnosis cd last night (at least most of it before DD wanted milkies)

I am going to gear my a$$ into shape. I DID walk 5 miles 3 days ago but all the crap food made that in vain.

Today or this week rather, I want to start a high protein low carb diet. I haven't been able to find anything about cutting carbs while BFing...it's ok to do right?

Woke up with my period this morning - hoping that is why my weight loss this week was not quite what I would like it to be.

Started: 1/1/11:  256 pounds

              2/1/11:  242 pounds

              3/1/11:  236 pounds

         last week:  231 Pounds

         this week:  230 Pounds

Lost 1 pound this wee, 26 pounds total.

I have not worked out as hard as I would like, so perhaps that would up the loss a bit. I prefer 3 pounds a week! I really want to get to 225 for the first of next month (which is 11 pounds in March).

Wow, you ladies are giving me real hope and motivation.  I am aspiring to run a half marathon in October. I've never done any kind of running before and I absolutely ALWAYS hated running. So now I'm determined to love it. I started my training one week ago. So I have my running goals and my weight goals.

Weight:

Starting weight: 232 (March 10th)

This week: 228

Goal Weight: 145 (by the end of the year)

Running Goal:

March: Run 1 minute Walk 2 minutes for 30 minutes

April: Run 2 minutes walk 2 minutes for 40 minutes

End Goal: 13.1 miles in October, 2011 ( No time goal right now, I just want to make it!)

So Surreal - i am b-feeding and keeping to  high protein / carb diet.  I typically have one serving of whole grains / day - like quinoa, or oatmeal or brown rice.   Frankly, im not certain its important at all while breastfeeding...but having a tiny bit of whole grain carbs has been doing a good job of keeping my super huge white-food carb cravings at bay, so im sticking to it!

I actually gained this week - back to 259 lbs.  I want to keep on track for a 10 lb weight loss by the end of March - this will be a tough week!

terran - have you looked at the Couch to 5k? That's how I started at the beginning of this year. I'm working my way to 6 miles currently and won't be doing a half since I am unexpectedly expecting, but the c25k worked really well for me. And it seems to work well for people who aren't the hugest running fans. The first week starts with alternating 1 minute of jogging with 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes and at the end of 9 weeks, you'll be running a 5k or 30 minutes.

I did really well with it yesterday although I did have 2 servings of carbs, but I think that may be what I stick with for a while. I always get light-headed if I don't have some in the am and before bed. I went to a specialist about it (forget what he was called) and he ran a panel of tests and said I am in immaculate help besides my weight. He said my blood pressure is the best he has seen in years. He also said I must just be going through these light-headed episodes b/c I am fat and it is probably a sugar addiction...this was about a year ago...

I don't understand my blood pressure at all though. Most of the time it is 100/60 which is fine but it tends to get lower which I thought was bad but all the Drs I have been to said it's fine...Some days it has been as low as 70/50 and I feel fine though. I was rushed to the ER before when it plummeted to 40/20 and I was still walking but felt gross and like I couldn't breathe. They called it a panic attack...but I thought your BP spiked during those? What do I know?

Anyways sometimes I feel sick if I don't eat "enough" but that seems to be why I go on binges, b/c I feel sick and the food makes it feel better. It doesn't have to be unhealthy food though...

Motivated Mama- Yup! I will be on Week 2 day 1 tomorrow. Today is strength/core day so I'm not doing any running today. But I finished week one yesterday.  I am doing a 5k in 12 weeks so I figure I can extend out the Couch to 5k if I run into any trouble in a given week.  I don't anticpate trouble this week because the jogging for 1 minute seemed relatively easy last week but some of those weeks make me nervous. LOL

Went to the gym today which might not have been the best idea.  The flu really did a number on me and my energy level was weak.   I did a Step class and got through it, though I was a frightening shade of red when it was done.  Dang, I hate being sick.  I never have the patience to sit back and recoup all my strength.

I said I wasn't going to get on the scale, but I couldn't resist.  I am down a pound -- I'll take it.

Starting weight 175

Week 1 -- 174

Week 2 -- 173

Not very impressive numbers.  I need to get back to ww and focus on my eating again.

I had a decent eating day yesterday.  It wasn't the best but it wasn't horrible.  I did some strength exercises yesterday as well.   Today, food is doing very well.  I will do some cardio later this evening.

Anyone have any suggestions on alternative sweetners?  I was able to give up pop about 5 months ago but I can't give up sweet tea.  Splenda, Sweet n Low, Equal mess up my digastive system and gives the tea a strange taste.    I tried drinking tea without sugar but I'm too much of a southern at heart.

I think Truvia is decent tasting. Comes from the stevia plant.

I second Truvia. Stay away from the aspartame garbage. I just saw the FDA researcher that was experimenting with it's safety before it was approved on TV (forget her name) and she said she quit her job b/c she warned the FDA it was NOT safe. She was perfectly healthy beforehand and after working with it for 9 months (I believe) she had some tumors and her body ballooned. Anyway she says it is not safe and it destroyed her life. She also said the FDA is completely corrupt...and of course it was approved despite her warnings and what happened to her...(she was in a documentary maybe it was called A Beautiful World or something similar anyways..the cover has an apple turning into a world on it, it's about a teen boy's journey through finding out the truth about healhty diets and stuff)

This is a huge reason why I eat super healthy. That does not include all the fat-free diet crap they sell at the stores. To me they are not healthy just full of garbage and they won't actually help you at all.

I am working on eating more raw foods and better protein sources. I have incorporated different beans into my everyday foods and I am eating 1/4 cup raw nuts (cashews, almonds, and brazillian) daily. Making sure I eat fresh fruits and veggies for snacks.

I make an iced tea out of dragon fruit melon green tea. It is fruity so I don't need to add sugar or anything.

Hi ladies,

Im on day three of my new diet. DD turned one on Sunday and I have only lost about 5 lbs of my pregnancy weight. Id like to have another baby soon, but Im determined to shed this weight first. Im really short, so the weight shows up a lot through my middle.

Weigh in three days ago: 157

Goal weight: 125

Im only going to weigh once a week (hopefully) so that I can see bigger results as I dont have a digital scale. I have cut my caloric intake down to 1500-1800 from nearly 3000, and have begun doing 30 minutes of exercise a day ( I hate hate hate excercising, which is something I really have to get over). So far, my biggest problem seems to be my salt intake. Right now I am consuming 5000 mil a day, and I thought I was doing good eyesroll.gif. DH is being super supportiave, but he works and Im a SAHM, so I still have to cook him food that is better than what Im getting to eat. After 14 hours of manual labor, he doesnt want a salad with a tilapia fillet.

SIDS happens.

Hi everyone

I am having such a binge-y day, I can't stop eating!  My dh had to go to the doctor to get some test results today and all we got were more questions and no answers.  They need to run more tests. I think I am anxious and frustrated with that, even though it's nothing life-threatening it's still really bothering me.

I seem to really be craving that "too stuffed to think, totally numbed out" feeling.  I have WI tomorrow so I really do not want to blow it today.  :(

That sucks about the tests and feeling bingey-y. I'm sorry. Often when I get that way I find if I force myself to drink 16-20 ounces of water, I'm so full I can't snack much! :) That is how I have gotten through my period this month! Lots of water.

I have been a lazy fool about working out lately - managing some very half-a%^ed work outs 3-4 times a week and only one really solid one per week right now. I am really needing to up my game. Always an excuse not to and I need to stop that.

Doing well with food. I am a lower-carb eater (not like Atkins - I am a vegetarian and eat beans and lots of veggies and but no pasta or bread or sugar). That has been working well for me. I swear my body just adjusts to calories and I can use low cal diets to maintain my weight, but not really to drop any weight.
