Ugh! did not-so-good today, haha. I did workout but as far as food, I sucked. But I knew it would be a hard day for any kind of diet. We had a pancake breakfast followed by a 3 year old's bday party at McDonalds followed by a grill out at a friend's house and now I am eating a small brownie and drinking decaf with Bailey's Irish cream in it. BUT I have decided to start running for sure and am getting new running shoes on Monday. So excited because our local shoe store is having a sale, bring in a pair of gently used shoes to donate to Soles4Souls and get 15% off a new pair of shoes! So much better than the $10 pair of WalMart tennies that I have been using.

By the way, is it true that it may be really hard to lose the last bit of weight while EBF-ing?

looks great PacificBliss! (I just realized that it is so weird that I don't know your actual name, I feel like I have "known" you for so long- ever since the Losing Weight While TTC thread of like June 2009!!) I like how you alphabetized the names! I am in a bit of a rut, I gained a bit of weight while on vacation (only 3lbs so not too significant) but I am having a hard time finding the motivation to get back on track. I did really good for breakfast today, but then my DH baked bread, and I seriously ate half of a loaf. Its only like 600 calories, so I can skip lunch and a snack (I am so full now anyway) and just budget it into my daily intake, but still that is a total binge for me, and I don't like it! Not to mention that it was WHITE bread, and I have only been eating whole grains lately, but whatever. Heres hoping I can gain control!

Well, we're finally home from our trip & I weighed myself this morning. I was hoping it would have been lower, but it was right at 130, so I've lost 16 lbs so far.  Goal 112.  I'm bummed because by this time with DS1 I was only 4-5 lbs above pre-preg weight.  I feel like its going to be so much harder this time around, and I'm just so out of shape.  Good thing I'm starting the C25k tommorrow, or I'd really be feeling depressed.

Thanks Amanda! Wow, I had forgotten about the losing weight while TTC thread. I have been more successful here than I was there. I am actually 12 lbs lighter now on this thread than I was when I left that thread pregnant. So, I am 12 lbs below my pre-pg weight joy.gifUntil now I had not looked at it that way. Sorry about the gain and the doldrums!

LoveLife- I got you updated. I am on Week 6 of the C25K

So, It was good to realize I am 12 lbs below my pre-pg weight and fun to be at week 6 of the C25K but, I hurt my back. I am really afraid of derailing. I am in pain and bored because I can't do much. Plus, I am an emotional eater. I have already used some of my weekly weigh watchers points (for those of you who know what that means) and I got a whole new set yesterday.

Hi, I'd like to join...unsure of current weight...pre-preg weight, 130 lb (approx - somewhere from 128-135 lb), highest pregnancy weight 180 lb. My sweet babe was born on 03/8/11 ... not sure of current weight but might find out at today's Dr's appointment. I am trying to focus more on sizes actually.  I can get into my size 8 "transition jeans" but was a size 4 when I got preggers.  So that's my goal.... my issue is focusing on healthy eating and in a bit , exercise....and not getting obsessed/extreme in my approach, trying to listen to my body, eat when I am hungry, stop when I am full, rest when I am tired...Anyone else struggle with similar issues/or struggled with an eating disorder in the past?  I have so the whole weight loss thing can be a slippery slope for me and while I want and need to lose the baby weight I am trying to tread lightly here...hence I do not own a scale and rarely weigh myself.

Ok, so doc's scale said 152.4...that was w/all my clothes on & having to go to the bathroom, so I am guessing actual weight is about 150 which I am pretty happy w/since it is a little less than one month pp. I have been eating a lot so it has be due to bfeeding. I am going to try to go a little easier on my cookies & milk snacks and also avoid the late night runs to the kitchen which I don't think I really need most of the time. Oh yeah and if the weather ever gets nicer here and if I feel up to it (and ususally I do) I will start going for walks and check out post natal yoga.

Bailey, I have always found it impossible to lose the last 8-10 lb when still nursing...I wind up losing those last few stubborn lbs after weaning.

:)

Happy to report that I am back on track with my healthy eating today after a weekend of eating horribly and trying to fit in a little exercise (Even though I did lose another pound somehow. Really not sure how that happened!). Unfortunately when I tired to buy some good running shoes today they didn't have my size and they had to order them so I have to wait 1-2 weeks to get them, but right now me and babe are getting ready to go on a nice long walk with the jogging stroller.

Here we go! biggrinbounce.gif

I am SO back on track!!

Plus, I started the Game On! Diet with some friends, and it has been challenging so far, but the total motivation that I needed.

http://thegameondiet.com/

Weighed in at 137 this morning, so still 2lbs up from my vacation, but I am feeling good that things are heading in the right direction!

April 7th 2010 will be one year since my first weigh in, when I saw 193 on the scale, even at 5 weeks postpartum! I am so glad that I started this group, you have all been such a help to me. PacificBliss, I hope being the threadmistress will give you the same luck!!

Well I spent the last few days in L.A. Dieting wasn't an option but I did watch what I ate. I'm still 199lbs. I tried Carl's Jr new turkey burger, not bad for on the road food. I noticed the fast food places list calories now.

While there I visited my skinny sister.

Welcome.gif StellaNuava! Congratulations on the weight loss so far!

Welcome back trekkingirl and way to stay on track while on vacation. Amanda, glad to see you are back on track, That game looks like fun.

If anyone would like their weights updated please put them in bold. I hurt my back and will be on vicodin and muscle relaxers for a bit and might miss something. So, in addition to no workouts we need to get out of the house for a few days and stay in a hotel while the house is treated for termites.  I am going to have to work hard to stay on track!

My baby pulled me away from the computer earlier and I didn't get to finish my post. I was starting to say that I visited my skinny sister. She dropped down to size six and you wouldn't believe the amount of junk food in her house. Yet somehow I am the fat sister! That sucks! I wish we could have the same matabolism! She thinks she needs to go to the doctor about the weightloss. I guess she dropped a lot real fast without intending to.

I'll join! Before getting pregnant with ds who is now 12 months, I was happily 120 lbs and felt quite fit.  I honestly forget how much I got to in the pregnancy, but here, one entire year post partum, I am still at 150 lbs!! so my goal is to return to my 120 weight which I had been for many years, most of my adult life! I can't seem to get below 150 right now. I am not dieting and exercising only minimally- so I giess that is it. I eat fairly well- I am still nursing so I don't want to restrict my calories too much but I do want to start thinking more about what I eat and trying to exercise more- I used to exercise a lot more before I had a baby because now I am not as free to go out when he is sleeping and I have free time I just sit at the computer or something.  when he is awake we do go for walks every day but not huge walks for hours like I did before having him! I hope when the weather gets warm I can increase my exercise.

welcome snapdragon

congrats on the progress bailey

Do you think looking attractive to DH is bad motivation to lose weight? I always hear "Oh you should lose weight for YOU not DH"

Because I have alopecia I am very confident that my DH loves me for who I am, not what I look like. I just think it would be nice if he had a skinny wife. Or not even skinny, just normal instead of fat. I guess I have a little guilt about being bald. I'm rambling.

Hi Ladies, hi Stella!  I'm another March mommy.  I was thinking it might be a little soon to worry about intentional weightloss, so I'm glad to see I'm not the only March mama.  I've been trying to lose baby weight for 14 years.  LOL  My twins were born 3-3-11, and I was 234 a week before they were born.  This AM according to Wii, I am at 197.  I don't know my pre-pregnancy, because my dad was here working on our house and he has a tremendous sweet tooth, and there was so much sugar and junk in this house!  I gained like 10 lbs, I think, in the couple months he was here, so probably around 190.  So, I am really close to prepregnancy already.  My goal is to get to 170 and then see how it's going.  Usually end up pregnant again before getting much further (though I got to 160 once!).  I have to be careful not to cut calories too much, as with the twins apparently my milk supply suffers.  Never had that problem before, even tandem nursing my toddlers with the newborn.  For now, I'm just going to try to make good choices and now that the weather is improving, get out and walk.  Had our first walk last night!

Pacificbliss - sorry to hear about your back!

Mom to eight!!  Our twin girls arrived 3-3-2011.

I absolutely do NOT think it is bad or wrong motivation.  Ultimately all our goals should be to be healthy, have energy, be comfortable in our own skin, etc.  Realistically, however, most of us (probably all of us) feel better about ourselves when our spouses find us irresistibly attractive.  I think there is a difference (however subtle it may seem to some) between trying to lose weight knowing both that you should and that DH will probable find you more attractive and trying to lose weight because DH wants you to.  I'm not really expressing myself well.  But it is kind of like one way is a gift and the other way is an obligation, if that makes sense.

I haven't been here much recently, though I check on all of your updates regularly.  Maybe keeping more active here will help me keep more active in real life ;-)  The weight is still slowly coming off.  I went up a couple of lbs to 136 but now I'm back to 132ish.  We recently decided to cut processed foods out of our diet and will be buying pretty much single ingredient foods (if I need a science lab to create or extract an ingredient, we won't eat it).  It has only been a week and I haven't even been on it very strictly since I was still eating up some things that we had already bought, but I feel like I already have more energy and think that it helped jump start my weight loss again.  If it would stop raining for 10 minutes maybe the kids and I would be able to go outside again.  I'm itching to get outside, plant my garden and feel the warm sun on my face again.  I still have three months before DD turns 1 and right now I'm around 6-8 lbs away from my goal.  I'm sure I can make it if only I could lose more that 1 lb a month like the past few months.

welcome mylilmonkeys. I weigh 197 too. I am also hoping to hit 170. It's funny, I hear people talking about 130's and to me that sounds really thin. I guess it depends on your build and your body type? I think if I remember correctly I am a size 8-10 at 170 lbs. Should I be aiming for a smaller weight? The thinnest I have been in my adult life is 160 lbs. Maybe when I hit 170 lbs I will consider changing my goals. IDK a size 8-10 sounds good to me. right now I wear a size 14.

We must be similar body types.  I was 155-160 in college, wore size 8 and looked and felt pretty good.  My sister is tiny, even after four kids, but I don't think I would look healthy that thin.  Dh isn't into skinny chicks, either. :)  So, for me, I feel comfortable aiming for 170, and maybe a final target of 150.

Wow! I just LOVE seeing all of these new mamas on my humble little thread! :) It seems like just yesterday I was a March mama (my son was born 3/2/2010) and it is so nice to see the next generation, so to speak!

I am 136, and 5'4"ish. I wear a size 6. Its different for everyone. Whatever size you feel comfortable at in your own body is the best thing! I was right where you were a year ago!

SPEAKING OF WHICH.

Here is my post from one year ago- April 7th 2010. This is the very first post, from the very first postpartum weight loss thread found here.

DS was born on 3/2 and I am ashamed to admit this.. but I gained 40lbs during my pregnancy just because of lack of eating good foods and no exercise. This is on top of the 20lbs that I never lost after my previous pregnancy with my now 2 year old DD. I just weighed myself now, and 5 weeks after his birth I weigh.. 192lbs. yuck. this is more than I have ever weighed in my life while not pregnant. I have lost about 20lbs since the birth, but not nearly as much as I had hoped, considering how much I put on. I am nursing him exclusively, but nursing for me actually makes me hold onto weight instead of losing it quicker, so I have that as an added struggle. This week I am going to focus on eating healthier and making overall good choices. I don't want to RESTRICT my calories too much, but I am thinking a 1,400 calorie per day diet, might not be too bad. Next week I will start adding exercise to the mix as I will have officially hit the 6 week postpartum mark, and will no longer have any excuse to put it off.

SO there. now that i admitted all that, and got it out into internet-land, it is official. I HAVE to lose 50lbs. Granted, it took 9 months to put it on, so maybe it will take that long to take off. But mark my words MDC, by his first birthday I will not weigh more than 150lbs!

anyone else out there need to lose the leftover baby weight while nursing? what are you doing? what has worked in the past?

Its been such an adventure! I still can't believe that I've lost over 80lbs in a year. I have learned so much. Basically everything that I ever thought I knew about dieting and losing weight turned out to be completely different from what I know now. And I know it sounds cliche- but if I can do it, you all can too! Now if I could only get rid of these pesky 6lbs..

Amanda did you end up doing 1400 calories a day to lose your weight? I've been tracking my calories using the babyfit website and it has my goal calorie intake for the day at 2300-2500. I haven't really been losing though, just holding steady this week. Maybe I need less calories? Did 1400 calories effect your milk supply? What did your meals generally consist of on a 1400 calorie diet?

I didn't. I ended up doing around 1700-1800 since at 1400 I was pretty hungry all the time. As I lost weight, I decreased the number. I eat around 1400 right now- at 136ish. If I was eating 2300, even at 195lbs, I probably would have gained weight! But that is me personally, my body tends to fight weight loss while nursing. I didn't have a decrease in milk supply, BUT I naturally have an oversupply (even now, at over 1 year postpartum, I still have forceful letdowns, leaking, etc.). I didn't really have any set meals, I just stayed within my calorie range, and exercised for at least an hour a day. I will say- DRINK YOUR WATER. I drank probably around 3 liters a day (still do!) and I think it made the biggest difference. Maybe try using dailyplate.com instead of babyfit. Thats what I used, and I highly recommend it!

Well, I weighed myself w/o clothes today and weighed about 142.5.  I want to get a digital scale so I know exactly what it is.  Last time I weighed myself was at midwifes office and was 154 with clothes on, so maybe like 152 w/o, so I've lost about 10lbs so far.  I'm turning 30 at the end of June and would really like to be happy with my body and weight by then.  I have about 20lbs to go before I'm back at my goal weight. Don't know if that's too soon to lose 20lbs. but I'm going to try. I have 11 weeks, do you ladies think it is possible?

not at the rate I'm going. 10:30 at night and DH just whipped me up some pancakes! I should have resisted but he makes the best pancakes. I don't think I'm going to like what the scale has to say to me tomorrow.....

I think it depends on how close your goal number is to your body's ideal weight.  The closer we get to what we "should" weigh, the harder it seems to lose the weight.  Not that it isn't possible, it is just tougher to do.

We cut out processed foods (white flours, white sugars, science lab created ingredients, etc.) and in the first week I lost four of the lbs I had regained.  This is doing it kind of non-strictly as we still had some slightly processed foods in the pantry that we've been working through.  I feel like I have a TON more energy too, especially considering the fact that DD has been keeping me up with her teething pains.

I don't record an official weight until Sunday but the scale this morning said 173.5! I can't believe it! Maybe I don't eat much when in pain? I have been soaking in our hot tub a lot, could that aid weight loss? Who knew hurting my back would be good for the weight loss journey...
