Wasn't sure I would be down at all because I just started my period but I weighed in at 165.6.  1.4 down :)

I had an amazing week (likely never to be repeated!) with working out nearly everyday for at least 60 minutes and eating super well AND it paid off hugely!

Started 225 -- this morning I weighed myself an I am 217!! I lost 8 pounds this week! Better than I could have ever imagined. (I also had my period this week so I think 225 likely included a little water weight). WOOHOO!

I just did an online weight loss calculator to find the percentage of weight loss that is for me and it is 3.56%!

I'm the same way. I was shocked my weight went down at all. First time since my ds was born.

Congrats on the weight loss. smile.gif

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLISONROSE

204.1 today! I have been weighing myself everyday and I actually lost this weight in the beginning of the week when we first started our challenge. I have been faithfully staying active and eating better. I did have pizza and cake on friday night for DD birthday party. I will have to pick up the pace if I want good numbers next week.

As for gym's I live right outside of San Francisco so I am sure there are plenty of options. I really like the JCC but it's a few thousand dollars for a years membership.

Well, there is no question about who is leading the way so far.  Claybear, what an effort!!

Still waiting on a few more weigh ins, so I will do the leader board tomorrow.  (Not to mention I got home late - 8:45! - and I'm really tired - you guys will be proud though.  I resisted all manner of junk/fast food temptations on the way home.  Ate my lentil curry that was waiting for me in the fridge!)

I'm joining this thread.

So depressed this morning.  I am heavily involved in dance (I teach, dance myself, am the parent of dancers, all that stuff) and I have a performance coming up at the end of May.  I'm in 2 pieces w/ a couple of other "old" ladies and about a dozen high school kids.  I am by far the biggest one in the group.  We took measurements for costumes last night and...ugh.  I'm lucky they sell costumes big enough for me right now.  So.  I'm in a race against the calendar.  I'm thinking of joining WW because even though I don't agree with everything they espouse, the program and accountability will probably work for me.

I am sorry I did not post my weight yesterday - the last 2 days have been hellish - I have not had an opportunity to sleep since 5 am saturday morning . . . so this has been my first opportunity to break away from the kids needs to get online.  I did weight in yesterday at 198.4#.  I will post more later, but hopefully life will return to its normal level of chaos by tonight and I will catch a little shut-eye!  I hope all is well for the rest of you ladies and I will read all the posts I have missed asap!!!!

Snack ideas for afternoons binge avoidance??

I do fine with meals... I just eat what I planned and move on with my day. After dinner? No problem, I have my one little coconut thingy and I'm good for the evening, even when we eat early.

Gawd I am soooo hungry in the afternoon I can't stand it. Having a cuppa joe atm trying to stave off demons.

I eat a bowl of veggie homemade soup in the afternoons.  My husband makes a big pot of the soup so all we have to do is heat it up. Helps with the hunger.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

I joined a gym today. I worked out on an elliptical machine for 20 minutes after I joined up. I figured I'd increase my workout time gradually. I had to drag my ds1 out of the kids' club - that's how much he likes it. I'm planning on getting us out of the house earlier in the day tomorrow and working out longer tomorrow then get home in time for ds2 to do a morning nap.

That's awesome, allisonrose! good for you :)

Buzzer, sour things, especially fermented: pickles are great. I've found kombucha to be freaking magical when it comes to cravings (and the beginnings of sore throats, too). I'm a crunch person, though, and that afternoon time is when I want to crunch something, so got a big jar of Bubbie's dill pickles for my times of need. ;)

AFM--I could barely get out of bed this morning, and all day just had this deep exhaustion in my muscles. I think I've been too low-carb and/or mis-timing my carbs vs workouts. I totally pigged out on carbs tonight, though, so maybe I'll have some energy stores to draw on tomorrow.

Mmm pie. Sorry, got distracted.

I made it to my warm studio vinyasa yoga last night and it kicked my butt. Felt good though. About to head out for a run...hope it goes better than Monday did. Great job ladies! Claybear that's an actual biggest loser TV show (which I stopped watching) loss right there. Happy belated birthday AllissonRose

I went to my new gym and worked out: 35 minutes of cardio (elliptical) and 10-20 minutes of upper body strength training and crunches. I like having the time to concentrate on myself a bit but am having trouble arranging gym time with nap times. My 1 y/o is still taking two naps a day and my 3 y/o still needs a nap but hates taking it. The 15-20 minute drive there doesn't help. I'm a bit torn on the subject.

I love that you made pie charts! So awesome.

It was Biggest Loser the TV show style numbers but I think the 2nd week is when they all notoriously don't do well. We will see. I also started this as the largest woman in the game, so it makes sense for me to have some big numbers - I have a lot to drop!

For me, 175 is the perfect weight. Below that is kind of not so good - I get really boney and kind of gross looking. So, I have 50 in total to drop from the beginning of this game (I had begun originally at 256 and have been dropping from there. This morning I was 215, so 40 pounds down!)

I love this thread. I am going to work out now since I have said I will :)

Glad everyone enjoyed the pie charts.

I've been resisting some serious snack temptation these last couple of days.  I haven't eaten a single bad thing.  Not looking so great for the weekend though.

Dinner/Drinks for my little bro's birthday tomorrow, and lunch and drinks at a friend's place Sunday.

I tend to come a bit unstuck when I'm drinking, I become a bit of a potato chip fiend.  I will take some of my own, healthier snacks, and try to eat a bit before I go so I'm not starving.

Hopefully I can get in some serious exercise to balance it all out a bit.

BB - I get hungry in the arvos too.  I'm trying to stick with fruit.  I think it's more of a habit I need to break than "real hunger".

So, maybe we can get a bit more participation happening here?  How about a poll?

What do you use to motivate you to keep "on track"?

For example:  I stuck a picture on the fridge of DP and I from about 2 months after we met (seven years ago!).  We both look really healthy in it.

My mumbleth (20) year high school reunion is coming up. I would like to look sexy, not frumpy. Back in high school when I was way thinner I did not think I was and always wore frumpy things. I would like to finally stop being that girl.

I gained a pound after not weighing myself since monday. I spent all of last night reading a book called LIFE WITHOUT BREAD. Maybe I will try lw carb for the rest of the competition. I have never done low carb before so it's uncharted waters for me. I generally feel sick if my stomach is empty so I have a feeling that I am a bit hypoglycemic. So maybe this will help me feel a bit better. It will probably make my chronic constipation worse though. I don't think I have ever gone a single day in my entire life without eating carbs all day!

As far as what motivates me, just looking in the mirror and hating what I see. Also feeling really uncomfortable in the bedroom. Oh and going in the fitting room and nothing I try on fits. Like last night I tried on the largest sized jeans at the store and they were way too small. My DD said, Mom they're jeggings!

I wear a pair of 2xl men's hockey pants. I wear them with suspenders (under my hockey shirt) to hold them up. I would like to get down to a size large or Xl because the bigger pants weigh a ton.  So every time I have a hockey class and wear the gear, it reminds me of my goal to get into lighter gear. smile.gif

I just noticed the title of the thread is encouraging people to join. Perhaps the thread keeper might want to change the title? Just a thought. I was really strict with low carb today and feel confident about tomorrow. One day at a time.
