aaarrrgh 154 again.

Honestly, I'm just surprised it isn't more since I've been hunkering down into some serious emotional eating. Luckily I've kept up the exercise, so I guess that's been my slightly saving grace. Accountability helps for sure, and I think I need to check in here more often to increase that sense of responsibility.

I have PCOS too and I think more exercise is the key.  I have been trying to loose weight by mostly lowering carbs but it is not enough - and I tend to binge carb eat which cancels out my low carb days.  (I actually have a pretty healthy diet...but too many carbs for someone with PCOS.)  When I was younger I was in great shape - but I exercised daily like a lunatic.  Now that I am much older and 100 pounds heavier...exercise does not come easy.

I have gained greensad.gif...238.2

Since I wasn't sure about my weight last week I'm not sure if I had a gain or not. The scale said 189 this morning but were still not level here so I need to get on DH to put in the blocks. Sorry Red Team.

Hanging in there, started some running finally. I got a serious anti-inflammatory for my knees and it is making all the difference in the world. Now I have no excuses to avoid running. Before the drugs I was making about a quarter mile at a time, now I am up to 2 miles in three weeks.

ps- Does anyone have access to a Jacob's Ladder at your gym? Holy crap, I started that thing and literally I could only do 2 minutes. Now I am up to six minutes at a time, just slow.

211.8   Almost down to where I was 2 weeks ago. Just got a tooth pulled this morning so only soft foods and no sugar for a couple of days. At least there's some upside to it.  smile.gif
Also measured my hips and waist. No change in waist, but a 1/2 inch off the hips. Progress. Yay!!

Exercise plan:  Today-  a little walking, taking it easy

Tues -  1 hour hockey skating

                       Wed -  1 1/2  hours hockey classes

                       Thurs- Walking

                       Friday- Walking

Sat- 1 hour hockey class and skating

                       Sun- Walking

We went camping this weekend, so I am hoping I am just retaining water due to the change in altitude, stress, and salty food.

My gym has one! I tried it out one day for fun, but maybe I should use it more regularly. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm at 178.4 today.  I have 26 days to go till my dd's wedding.  I've been pulling out all stops on the exercise front - 12 miles/310 calories/45 minutes on the elliptical per day 5-6xweek.  I have reduced my food intake but am not following any particular diet plan.  I've lost a total of 18 lbs. since 1/16/12 and look forward to losing another 50 lbs in the next 12 months.

I appreciate this site and appreciate your devotion, Milkshake, to making it available and posting the results.

Holy sh*t, there is one at my new gym, and I'm about 99% certain that I would just fall right off it.  It scares the hell outta me, and I've never seen ANYONE use it!

I'd actually love to try a Jacob's Ladder... my gym doesn't have one tho. greensad.gif  Maybe I'll put a note in the suggestion box.

Just get on it milk!!!! You too Dmitrizmom (Iowa girls kick ass) and coffeebean. Care to have a side bet on who can increase their time on it in the coming weeks? I only have a little head start, and I am an old old woman... I'm sure you can beat me easily.

Depending on how nuts I go this week... I'm planning on doing a 5K on Saturday.  My goal it to finish it in less than 43 minutes. (previous personal record is about 45 minutes)

first I have to make it thru the stress that is my work week for 5 more weeks of the summer session. biglaugh.gif caffix.gif  bawling.gif  duh.gif

I like the Harry Potter workout idea, although I don't like Harry Potter.  It would be far more fun if it was a drinking game!

BB - I lied, I thought the Jacobs Ladder was something else.  The one I am scared of is actually this.

I have made a side bet with a friend about who can lose the most weight in the next 6 weeks (she's going to be a bridesmaid).  She reckons I have an advantage because I'm veg*n.  Haha!

Anyway, I want to beat her @$$.

I'm a 184 again this week.  I tried adding more food and greater variety with no effect.  I need to try something else to get the scale jumpstarted again.

Back soon with our numbers for the week!

People asked about how the teams were standing, so I calculated all the percents this week and did team tallys at the bottom.  In this challenge we use percents for team standing.  This makes it more even than just using # or kg lost, but it a real pain to compute every week, so I only do the math periodically through the 8 weeks rather than every week.

Still recovering from getting a tooth pulled and the cold I got the same day. I'm going to my hockey classes tonight anyway. I need the distraction and some "me" time.

I was just over at the fathers day photo contest in the parenting forum. I posted two photos of DH. I saw that adalinesmama has a photo too and her siggy says she is expecting in February! After such a loss I just can't tell you how excited I am for her to be growing a new baby. She must have mixed emotions but I just saw that and thought it was so cool!

It looks like something that can be done on the web or on the iphone.  It's intimate connection with facebook makes me less interested in it although it says on the FAQs page

"Is my activity automatically shared on Facebook/Twitter?

No, your activity is not automatically shared on Facebook or Twitter. Every time you create a challenge or add a comment, photo, or video, you can turn off sharing for that post by unselecting the Facebook & Twitter icons at the bottom of the screen."

I dislike having to unselection "sharing" on facebook but I don't really want all the people there to know about what I am doing here.

AFM, Good weigh in for me this morning.  Yesterday I went garage saling and walked a bunch more than normal.  I want to keep this up through the weekend.

Thanks for sharing, trekkingirl! I'm so happy for her!

AFM, I've lost the weight I gained over the weekend and I'm back on track. I don't think I'm going to reach my goal of 130 by the end of this challenge, though - that's 8 more pounds and the weight is becoming much harder to shed at this point. I'm trying to keep a closer eye on carbs, especially sugar, and I'm trying to increase my general physical activity, but beyond that I'm doing all I can realistically do.

On a brighter note, however, I went jeans shopping yesterday and I'm officially in a size 6! They look so tiny, and I'm beginning to wonder whether I'm perceiving my body accurately. I still feel "big".

dantesmama, i hear you on how hard it is to lose once you are no longer "overweight". what is your height? i'm about 5'6 1/2" -- close to 5'7". today i'm 142; in recent weeks, i've been as low as 139. i really liked the 139, in part b/c it was a new "decade" of weight, so to speak. also b/c i think once you are "quote-unquote SLIM" at least by modern standards, every pound you lose *really* makes a difference.

i also wear size 6 jeans, and i even have a pair in size 4.

what's funny though is that i do believe a size 6 today was a size 10 some years ago.

i'm 44 by the way, so i can remember.

anyways, congrats on the new slim you.

yes, i do believe you are probably slimmer than you feel. it never hurts to keep trying. it is easier to keep it off than to have to take it off again. but allow yourself the luxury of working at it slowly at this point.

by the way, i get lots of comments all the time that i look perfect at this size, and that i look a lot slimmer than what people think 142 is.

then i see my friend who has reduced to 128 pounds, and i *want* that last 10 pounds.

she works out like a fiend, however, and i'm just not going to make the time for that kind of obsession. i have many many other things to do.

----

AFM, i am still without my period. i have taken 4 pregnancy tests, all negative. i have a Dr. appt. for tuesday and will find out what's up. who knows, maybe it was/is all the weight loss over the past 6 months finally catching up with my body.

also, i am still nursing my 2 year old. don't know how / if it all plays a part...

Ohhh... Dantesmama and Tropicana!  I'm so excited for you both!

You are both in the kind of range that I would like to end up in.  Actually, maybe not quite that low, but something around 145 would make me pretty stoked!!

I'm really plodding along.  I've done so well with eating, and exercising this week, but it is SLOW going.

I had a fun realization today. I think I have arrived where I want to be and I am going to drop out of this round. I have lost over 60lbs in the last year. I feel amazing. I am working out and eating well and simply enjoying being at this weight and living in this body. So, I am pulling out and enjoying the summer at this weight, in this body and feeling fabulous. Thank you all for seeing me through the last 20 pounds of this journey.
