I was using Sparkpeople for a bit but found that the preset nutrition info was largely for pre-packaged foods.  Since I cook from scratch using whole foods I don't know that my approximations were at all accurate.  Can anyone suggest an app/program that works well for whole foods cooks?

I have only this:

I'd like something a little "better" as well.  No smart phone though.

MyFitnessPal is really great and it's user-submitted recipes are usually pretty darn accurate. It's free too!

I second my fitness pal.  I didn't notice this at first but there is actually a place for you to input your own recipes which is AWESOME!  You just plug in the ingredients and how many servings it makes and it calculates the calories for you.  It also saves the recipes which is great if you make the same thing once a week/month.

Thanks all!  I'm going to check out myfitness pal---and a total side note, the bean balls from veganomicon are pretty awesome and may just be the first recipe I enter!

This post is a little bit older, but we use sparkpeople.com. We cook a lot "from scratch" and eat very little pre-packaged food, so we use the Sparkpeople recipe calculator ( http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp ) which is kind of amazing. You can "make over" recipes if you tweak them or use recipes other people have entered, or change the serving size if you are more/less hungry. We cook a lot from Isa's vegan cookbooks, and I have found a lot of her recipes pre-entered, even, which saves me a few minutes.

I have been wondering the same thing. That always bothered me when I used Fitday. I just measured everything and added in each individual ingredient myself which was tedious.

But, I actually caught myself saying, "Am I really hungry right now, because that's a lot of measuring and recording." lol.
