YAY! I've been waiting for this...Fingers crossed that this will help me stay motivated.

Mini-introduction: I'm Emily. I work full-time and am completing my last semester of grad school. I'm running in an attempt to lose some weight but mainly to reduce the stress that my job causes me. I work with 6,7, and 8 year olds with severe disabilities (Think bottom 1% on the bell curve- nonverbal, incontinent, need assistance feeding, etc) so every day is a little bit nuts. I have about 10-15 lbs that I would like to lose. I'm also training for my 2nd half marathon on Nov 24th.  Glad to be joining you ladies!

9/4- 25 min 30 Day Shred

9/5- 47 min running

9/6- 25 min running

97 min.

HI Emily!!!  I'm so glad to see you here!  I was starting to worry that I was going to be alone here.   Yikes.

Running is such a great stress relief.  I always say that I am a much better mother when I run on a regular basis.   Well...really exercise in general - but for me - I enjoy the intensity of running.

It does motivate me to post here - I feel accountable!  Glad you're here.

Hey Y'all :)

This is only my second post to the entire Mothering forum *high five*!!

I'm DanaB, I'm 41 years old, wife to Jer for 21 years and momma to Jay (19) and Meghan (17). I've been actively pursuing a healthier lifestyle for about a year now--since I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and pre-diabetes. I decided I had to take control of things, was tired of feeling bad and realized if I didn't, live was gonna be short or very limited at the rate I was going!  Since then I've lost almost 40 pounds and typically walk five days a week--aiming for every day.

So we're keeping up with how many minutes we exercise here...so far this week:

9/17- 60 min trail walking with that Husband o' Mine

60 min total for this week so far...now I'm here and accounted for :)

Dana!   So nice to see you in here!  Congrats on your amazing weight loss....that is impressive.   You must be so proud of yourself.

Sounds like we are in the boat with our age and kids....   I am 42 with three kids - Jonathan 18, Jenny17 and Jack15.   Does your 19 year old still live with you?  Jonathan left for college in August and it is so hard.   I miss him terribly.

I hope this forum helps you stay motivated.   See you around!

Tis good to be here, lab--thanks for the welcome and congrats. I AM proud of myself, it has taken me years to get to where I really made some lifestyle changes.  :)

Aww ((hugs)) on your oldest being off to college! Ours is still living here at home with us, he's taking community college classes and looking for a job. I can't imagine him living away from us--I know it will happen, and probably much faster than I'd like!  How far away did your Jonathan go?

(Hope your cold is better, lab!)

Here's my September so far--thankfully I use an app (Endomondo) and could look back over the minutes! I keep track by miles, typically, so this was interesting to see :)

9/4 45 mins DVD workout
9/5 45 mins trail walking
9/6 60 mins trail walking
9/8 45 mins trail walking
9/9 65 mins trail walking

Hang in there!

I measure my exercise in distance, so I haven't been taking the time to come back here and put it down in minutes.

I didn't want to just disappear on ya!
