Words of wisdom from Milk8shake (with minor modifications):

The version 1 thru version 9 eight week challenges were a great success, and many of us are up for another eight weeks - we're opening it up for any newbies who would like to join the next round of the challenge.

 

Please read below.

 

Background: The thought came to my head because I joined the "losing weight in 2012" thread, but I didn't have much motivation, and I had no-one to be accountable to. I was thinking about the Biggest Loser, and how teams can be such a motivation. So, I thought I would throw this out there for anyone who needs to get some weight loss happening, but just can't seem to get off the couch.

 

The challenge: Commit to an eight week weight loss challenge. You'll be assigned to a team, and your weight loss percentage will be measured on an individual and a team basis. The team with the highest loss percentage at the end of the eight weeks will be the winner. This is a TEAM effort. If you lose, your team wins! Your weekly progress will be updated on the leader board for all to see.

 

The requirements/rules:

  1. You have to be willing to commit to the full eight weeks beginning July 22, 2013 and ending Sept. 9, 2013.
  2. You have to be willing to commit to exercising a minimum of 4 x 30 minute sessions per week - the type of exercise is up to you!
  3. You have to be willing to check in and update your progress and weight at least weekly on Mondays.
  4. You have to be willing to share your weight and your height. (By PM if you are shy) You may not join if losing 1 lb / .5 kg per week will put you in an underweight category according to your BMI (check here) at the end of eight weeks.
  5. If you miss more than 2 weigh-ins in a row, we will continue to track, but your loss will NOT contribute to your team's totals.

 

The prize: A thinner waistline, a slimmer derriere, and the opportunity to bask in the glory of the winning team. The challenge will not start until Monday, July 22, 2013. Sign up now to let us know you are interested so I can begin making teams.

Not pleased with my weight loss performance in the last challenge but am feeling really good with the increased exercise and hoping that I am gaining momentum for losing weight.

Starting this challenge at 160.6lbs, down from 162.2lbs at the end of last challenge.

 

My goal for this challenge is 155, my end goal is somewhere between 145-150, depending on how I feel and look.  The last time I was 145lbs was 6yrs ago, but I had lost the weight primarily b/c our life was so stressed, not b/c I was trying to lose or working out.  Everyone told me I looked sickly.  I think if I'm more toned this time, 145 will look much better.

 

I'm continuing on with running, working on mostly increasing distance and slightly on increasing speed.  I do a short body weight circuit 3x/ week and am shooting for 100 squats in less than 3.5minutes on those days, too.

My goal : I want to see the 160s pleaaaase please please!!!

I pretty much took the week off. Didn't do the 30 day shred, barely ran at all, did some walking and biking and ate and drank too much. I was expecting a bigger gain so I am glad I am starting this challenge with only a .2 gain! I am ready to start again!

Ok, here are my stats to kick this off!

Weight: 148.4lbs (67.3kg)
Height: 5'5" (165cm)

Plan for this challenge is to stick to a low sugar (low fructose) diet, lots of healthy proteins, fats & veg. And to drink much more water! Some days I get by with just one or two glasses, not good since I'm also nursing my 15 month old!

For exercise I'm going to continue walking and incorporate some Body Revolution DVDs too when I can. Might also throw some yoga into the mix.

Loving reading everyone elses plans, very motivating! All the best everyone!

Yep, Milk8Shake, I am 18 weeks along with twins. Get to find out genders this Friday, July 26.  Seems surreal after all our waiting and hoping. Glad to see you back. What is your starting weight for this challenge?

My goal is to lose 7lbs in 8 weeks. I'm going to either do an exercise DVD or go for a walk every day. I'm going to try to not drink pop.

215.15 and I'm 5'4 1/2. Up from the last challenge and I had a tough time during that. Combo of eating too much sugar and being on my period. Usually gain about 5 lbs right before and during. We'll see how it goes. My waist measurement is down by a 1/2 inch and my hip measurement is up by a 1/2. Probably from the bloating. It's been slow going getting back into hockey. I've played 2 games and I'm dealing with ankle pain, swelling, and scar tissue movement.
Hockey clinic tonight, more walking and skating this week. Game on Sunday.

OK, sigh.... I wasn't going to do this one, but I really want to lose weight and you guys keep me on track (at least a little more than I would).

 

I am starting today at 152 my goal is 140.... I am 5'6".

 

I have a almost 6 month old and have not lost any weight since he was about a month old.  I have been working out at least 3-4 times a week, pretty hard, and still have not lost any weight.

I don't want to discourage you but I only started losing weight when I started working out every single day. It doesn't have to be REALLY intense, but at least some exercise every day. Bike, walk, jog, weights, yoga.... But something every day.

 

BUT that's me, I had much more weight to lose than you, being close to 200 lbs, I don't know if that's a factor or what. You should do the 1000 min exercise challenge with us, it's very motivating!

oops, forgot the weigh in!  167.5 for me.

 

 

I've definitely piled on a few kilos that I had worked so hard to lose.  I got married two months ago, and had my brother in law, sister in law and nephew living with us for ten weeks post wedding, plus another friend living with us for most of that time too.  My job has taken a turn for Hecticville, so to say I've been stressed, well that wouldn't come close. 

 

Anyway, my plan is to quit snacking in the evening - potato chips are my kryptonite, and to lay off having vodka and lemonade as a stress reliever.  I know, sounding so healthy right know.  It's a bit embarrassing.

Weighing in at 135.8 and height only  4'11".  I'm sure I won't be growing in height but hope to be dropping a few pounds this time. I'd like to be in the 120's by the end of this round.

Hope you ladies don't mind if I join ya! Congrats on your pregnancy with twins, Lilac! That must be so exciting :)

 

I'm at 181 lbs (probably a pound or 2 more since I'm on my period currently) & I'm 5'3 . . yikes! I'd like to get down to 173 as my goal. My plan is to keep eating the way I have been (which is pretty healthy), but cut out the late night snacking . . that's a huge problem for me. I'm also training for a 5km walk at the beginning of October so I'll be walking Wednesday-Sunday and going on my elliptical Tuesday nights. Monday will be break nights :)
