Words of wisdom from Milk8shake (with minor modifications):

The version 1 thru version 13 eight week challenges were a great success, and many of us are up for another eight weeks - we're opening it up for any newbies who would like to join the next round of the challenge.

Please read below.

Background: The thought came to my head because I joined the "losing weight in 2012" thread, but I didn't have much motivation, and I had no-one to be accountable to. I was thinking about the Biggest Loser, and how teams can be such a motivation. So, I thought I would throw this out there for anyone who needs to get some weight loss happening, but just can't seem to get off the couch.

The challenge: Commit to an eight week weight loss challenge. You'll be assigned to a team, and your weight loss percentage will be measured on an individual and a team basis. The team with the highest loss percentage at the end of the eight weeks will be the winner. This is a TEAM effort. If you lose, your team wins! Your weekly progress will be updated on the leader board for all to see.

The requirements/rules:

  1. You have to be willing to commit to the full eight weeks beginning March 3, 2014 and ending April 21, 2014
  2. You have to be willing to commit to exercising a minimum of 4 x 30 minute sessions per week - the type of exercise is up to you!
  3. You have to be willing to check in and update your progress and weight at least weekly on Mondays.
  4. You have to be willing to share your weight and your height. (By PM if you are shy) You may not join if losing 1 lb / .5 kg per week will put you in an underweight category according to your BMI (check here) at the end of eight weeks.
  5. If you miss more than 2 weigh-ins in a row, we will continue to track, but your loss will NOT contribute to your team's totals.
  6. You may not join if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant during the challenge, weight loss up to your BFP will be added to the team challenge, but then I will ask that you wait until after your baby is born to join again.

The prize: A thinner waistline, a slimmer derriere, and the opportunity to bask in the glory of the winning team. The challenge will not start until Monday, March 3, 2014. Sign up now to let us know you are interested so I can begin making teams.

I am in this time. I am 9 weeks post partum. I had gestational diabetes while I was pregnant and although I started out pre-pregnancy at 250 pounds, when I had the babies I weighed myself and I was 246 :) The babies sucked all the weight out of me. As of today I am 224 pounds from breast feeding two babies exclusively. I have been trying to limit my carbs like I did while pregnant to keep my gestational diabetes at bay although not as tiny an amount each day.

I'm in!  The last challenge wasn't very productive for me.  I really had trouble fitting my exercise in.  I'm going to make a firm plan for making that happen, and hope that this time around is better.

Reunions are motivation. This summer is my 20 year reunion. Most of these people I havent seen irl since high school graduation. A few came to the 10 year reunion so I saw them then. Now I am married and have twin boys. So much has changed. At my 10 year I had spent a year losing 25 pounds to look like I did in high school. I was overweight when I was in high school but at least I looked the "same" 10 years later.

I feel bad, for I gave up last challenge... Started great with the cleanse, then kept craving junk food and gave in MAJORLY. Until now, I've been overeating, making myself feel sick with sweets and such... UGH!!

But I saw this thing on my newsfeed (and funny thing, a coworker had told me about it that same night! It's probably going around on FB a lot), a cup of boiling water, a tsp of cinnamon (I use the organic kind, so expensive but muuuch better) and 2 tsp of raw local honey... Drink half on empty stomach first thing in the morning an other half 1 hour before going to bed. It's supposed to help in digestion and I believe it just satisfies the body somehow, for in the last 3 days I haven't been craving anything bad, which is a first in a loooong time. I recommend to all!

I'm in again and I'm hopeful this is going to be a better this time around!!

Oh and I'm giving up sugar for lent! But I'll stick with nature's sweetener (honey, molasses, cinnamon, etc) in lil doses.

count me in!!!

I am 5'6" and weigh 148ish (will get the first weigh in tomorrow) and my goal this time will be 145 (although, my final goal is 140).  I actually lost 5 lbs in the last challenge, so I am hoping to at least go down 3 more!

132.49 lb

my goal for this challenge will be 123.5, so "only " 9 lb

which would get me at a BMI of 23

63.9kg (140.9lb)

The weather is a bit cooler here now. I was able to put DD2 in the pram and go for a 30 minute walk while DH took DD1 to kindy this morning.

I don't really have a goal for this challenge. 60kg would be good though.

I am 5'10" and with a 288.8 start weight. I have lost 15 pounds already this year but have totally dropped the ball the last 2 weeks and gained 5 pounds (I was down 20 pounds before).

My goal is to drop 20 pounds in the 8 weeks. At 180 I am a great size and feel wonderful. I hope to be there in 2015.

Ok, I haven't posted on MDC here lately, too much judging (IMHO), but this seems likely to be supportive.

I randomly found this page today.  I'm in.

My scale is broken (battery is dead) so...can't tell you my weight today :)

At an educated guess, 185?
Height is 5'3"

My goal weight I think is around 125-140 (depending on how much muscle comes with it).

I have 4 kids, homeschool, and 3 jobs, so finding time to exercise and eat healthy is my biggest challenge.  Trying to schedule it.

I am following a higher-protein diet and run 3-4x per week, and weight lift 2-3x per week.  I'm following the NROL4W lifting program and just finished stage 1.

So starting weight this challenge is 150 (up 2 lbs from last week????) and my goal this challenge is 145. and my ultimate goal is 135-140 (depending on how I feel and look)....  I am 5'6", so either of those are in my healthy zone!  Still nursing my 3.5 year old and my 12 month old, so I feel like I can't do anything too drastic with my diet.... makes it frustrating.

How do you nursing mama's do it?

180. I have a 10 lb goal this round. I had a terrible time exercising last time. My 5 month old is a terrible day time napper, so the second I put on a dvd to work out she would wake up crying. Totally frustrating! I have revised my plan, it is finally getting up to 30 during the day here in AK. So going to find a double jogging stroller for her and my 2 yo. Its too cold to carry her in my beco she needs to be snuggled up and have wind protection on her face.

I'm exclusively nursing my 5 month old. I have been good with tracking calories on my fitness pal. Eating between 1800-2000 cal. I make sure to eat a ton of protein and drink a lot of water. Now that the weather isn't as cold for me I will start drinking green smooties on a daily, I don't feel like them when its cold. I believe in protein and lots of green veggies a

I am nursing 2 but they are 2.5 and 4 right now. I have decided I am okay if my milk supply goes down. I am aiming for 1750 calories a day though which isn't too drastic.

189 It seems like I always start these challenges during my period, when i'm bloated and have water weight gain. I played hockey all weekend, so plenty of exercise. This week, I'm going to work on getting off ice exercise in.
By the end of this challenge, I want to be in the 170's.
